I have slacked on my weight lose/fitness journey for several months now (gained about 7lbs back), but I am ready to hit it full force. I ordered a Bowflex pr1000 and was wanting someone to help me make an exercise routine. I am 5'4" 135 lbs and wanting to get down to 125lbs. I am extremely flabby & I am not wanting to get bulky, just tone up. I know nothing about exercise, I mainly just walk. Any suggestions?

If you are eating at a deficit you won't gain any appreciable muscle. Don't worry about getting bulky, the vast majority of women just don't have the hormones for it.

"Toning" up will result when you lose the layer of fat that is covering lean muscle. Walking can be great cardio....just make sure you are challenging your current fitness level.

What do you like doing, what can you see yourself doing on the long run, that sounds interesting, affordable and that your schedule allows you to do? I looked at your profile and since am also a working mother your age, I think the most important is finding something you can fit into your routine, that also sounds exciting enough so you will keep doing it. It does not matter so much what type of exercise it will be, the important thing is getting into the routine of exercising. Walking, jogging, joining a gym, lifting weights, doing yoga, pilates, zumba, finding a pool, what sounds interesting and easy for you to do? If you have a young-ish child, finding something that can happen at the same time/place as your child has activities might be a good idea, as it will keep you motivated to keep going, like both starting swimming lessons, martial arts, dance etc.

I have stared back walking and we have a pool, but I want to add in some sort of exercises on the Bowflex. That is something that my husband and I will do togther. I have never done any sort of weight training. I just do not know where to start in that area.
