Hi i just started on here two weeks ago today, i am a 23 year old male, my weight at the start was 310 pounds and 6 feet tall. 2 weeks ago I got an elliptical machine delivered to my house so i have been doing that 30 minutes a day everyday, I also work in the restaurant industry so I am on my feet from 7-10 hours a day 5 times a week.

I drink lots of water everyday, lots of protein, i use the whey protein powder as well. i would say i eat roughly 2000 calories a day sometimes 1800.

I know i am really overweight and this 8 pounds a week wont continue, just wondering if thats a normal start to a diet and life style change

You've probably had a huge drop in water weight from some sudden and abrupt changes in your intake. For someone of your weight/height, and new activity level, I would say to not be too concerned. It will stabilize after a few weeks, and you will see smaller and more realistic losses. For now, seems pretty normal!

Water weight. If it doesn't slow down to a reasonable weight this week, then you might need to up your activity level/eat more.

Be happy to see numbers like that! I think it would be such a huge motivator to see giant losses. I've been at this about 3 weeks and I've lost 2 lbs. two. Enjoy your 16 and keep on it!

I'm 5'9" started at 321 and am 25. Lost about the same my first two weeks. It's a combination of water weight and your body reacting to the lifestyle change. Soon the water weight will be gone, your body will get used to your dieting and exercise and you should see a drop to about 4 lbs a week the next few weeks, then eventually 2.5 lbs a week (which is where I am at now at 100 days).

Considering your starting weight and initial water weight losses, it's normal. Just don't expect to keep seeing those kinds of numbers. It'll start to regulate and the numbers will be lower.

With your beginning stats and the expected initial water loss, I wouldn't worry about it.
