My success with myfitnesspal

I just wanted to share my experience had with this application I got for my phone. On March 18th of 2011 I went on a ski trip and accidentally grabbed my old ski pants (which use to fit me 15 years ago) by accident. I was ashamed that I had to borrow someone else's ski pants while he wore mine. I hit my bottom, and downloaded this app along with several of apps in this category. NOTE: I deleted all the other ones from my phone and only use myfitnesspal.
A little history about me, I was a an ex-bike racer - speed skater, I use to compete at a high level and use to be in great shape, but that was 20 years ago. I thought that I had to just accepted the fact, I am a fifty one years young, will just accept the fact that you once you get old, you just can’t lose the weight and will just have to buy larger cloths to fit into.
Was I ever wrong, since March 18th, my weight was at 172-174 pound range, which is not huge by todays obese society, but I am 5’8” and use to be at 150 lbs when I was competing. It has been a little over 2 months now, and I am currently at 157.8 pounds, and have been going real strong.
I am riding my again on a more regular basis, doing 50-70 mile rides at least once a week, and feel much more energetic than I have in a long time. So to all those who feel just like I did, because you are getting old, you have to accept the fact, that you are just going to be overweight, out of shape, and tired a lot more than you use to be. It is a fallacy.
By using myfitnesspal app, watching my calorie intake, exercise on a regular basis, and staying committed, I have not reached my goal to where I want to go, but I am really close in only a couple of months. I did with this app in a short period of time, which I could not do for years on my own.
Thank You myfitnesspal!
Sincerely,
David C.

Great job David! What an inspirational story. Do you follow the calorie/nutrition settings recommended in MFP, or do you use the custom setting to set your limits?0

You are a great example! I hate it when people say "I just have to accept it, i Had a kid and got fat or Im old and fat there's nothing I can do about it, Ill never have my old body back."
Keep up the good work!0 -
Great job! I'm 47 and started running (who'd of thought a year ago!) ... well again... hadn't ran in years... pre-marriage and kids... but now... I can't stand to even miss a day! MFP has helped me lose almost 40 lbs - almost 50 at my highest weight... It's a great supportive place.
Great job to all of us!!!

congratulations!
i feel the same way about MFP! i have never found it so easy to keep my promise to myself to "look the way i see myself" as i have since using this program. it takes all of the mystery out of getting fit. you just have to stick with it, and it works.0 -
That's awesome!! I'm not in the same boat as you ~ I'm in a wheelchair, but you inspired me anyway. I'm not giving up! Thanks for sharing your story. I did download the app onto my BlackBerry so I can take it with me if I'm gone as well. Keep up the good work!
