Great job kinga_m for developing a home practice!0

Oh, as far as restoratives go, I like practicing all the standing poses lying down. Basically, put your feet to the wall (rather than the floor) and have your back to the floor, then make the shape of the standing pose.0

Vune-Thanks so much for the encouragement about the transplant! My sister is being evaluated today , and the transplant team says yeah or nay on Monday. I have appt. for my donor evaluation in three weeks. Our goal is to keep her off dialysis, but she is going downhill quickly!
Thanks to all for the great yoga suggestions! I am resuming the practice after being lax for several years. I found it to be the most beneficial for weight control, strength and flexibility, and peace of mind. It is the only exercise that I have tried that successfully addressed my pear shape body. One of the reasons I lapsed was the distance To travel to a class, so I appreciate the on-line resources. However, I too am enjoying the freedom to hold a pose as long as I like. I have to be careful to push myself while still maintaining that relaxed mood.0 -
I'm enjoying the grounding and power aspects of it.
I think tonight we will either focus on runners yoga or upper body. it's good being the teacher :P0 -
There's just no way I can do it every day. I managed it on Sunday and Monday nights, but didn't make it yesterday. If I can get in 3 days a week, I'll be happy with that.0

maybe try practicing one pose for five min?
it doesn't need to be a full asana. just saying0 -
Thank you, @yoginimary!
@CarolPre - I am having difficulties as well, but the important thing is to try.
My aim is to do at least 15-20 minutes yoga a day - and don't want to hate yoga at the end!
So on the worst days I would recommend some breathing exercises, sitting comfortably on the floor / mat and then lie down and relax every muscles in your body.
Even that would have a great impact on the stress level!
I have managed to do it on Tuesday, even if it was just 20 minutes and I was just hopping from one exercise to the other. I feel like this was a big challenge because it was so late and it would have been sooooo easy to skip!
Anyway, trying is good. It is a lifestyle, not just a challenge, so adjust it to your feelings and do as much as you feel good about.

I've been sticking to a lot of deep breathing. I get up every hour or two to walk around, but the four holes in my belly mostly want to be left alone. I finished one mandala, and I'm planning another one to start after my nap. It's a nice little meditation. I can't wait to have enough to fill my walls at home.
I am so glad I dedicated myself to a practice before this surgery. It's been helpful to be able to pick things up with my feet, or to drop into a plie without bending at the waist.0 -
We started this challenge a week ago. How is everybody?
I had a really sporty day yesterday so I am resting today - sticking to yoga.0 -
I've been doing a whole lot of corpse pose while healing. It's not really much to post about! I got intensely sad this morning, and realized I was pacing around my tiny bedroom, so I stopped and did mountain pose for some grounding. I think about the past too much.0

Sometimes you need to process the past, that is part of the journey.
Have you ever felt angry during yoga? Sometimes I get so angry...! It has nothing to do with the actual yoga class or my mood during the day. I think my mind is detoxing as well.
If that;s true, maybe sadness is part of the process as well. Good that you are doing some poses even after your surgery. Hope you will feel better soon!0 -
How are you all doing?
I have been struggling with doing yoga a couple of days so I decided to add these days to the end of the 30 day and then make it longer. On the long term I want to practice yoga almost every day, make it part of my life. It is such a good feeling to let go all the daily stress on a good yoga session!
I am really satisfied with my manduka mat and I bought a small book about yoga which I carry around, because the teachers cannot focus on all yoga poses every time and I have questions. I think I need to learn a lot, but I have at least learned already to listen to my body.
So how are you getting on? What are you gaining from daily yoga?
Have you also learned about yourself on the go or it is just me clearly not knowing my own limits / body.0 -
Hi All,
This is the end of the 30 day yoga challenge.
I figured out it is not as easy as I thought. Doing 5 times a week is fine but I was missing a few days. I decided to keep going, doing as many yoga session as I can.
At the end of the day I know more about myself than I knew before - regardless if I am happy with the knowledge or not.
On the plus side my poses are definitely getting better.
How did you do?0 -
How do you log calories burnt doing yoga? Cardio or strength since its both?0

Hi, I am planning on starting "30 days of Yoga with Adrienne" on August 1st. If you guys want to join me with a group, I'm trying to get some folks together to keep me motivated.0

I would love to join your group... Just can't find it. Help0 -
I came back once or twice to find this thread, and I couldn't find it! I didn't abandon it intentionally. I actually kept things up pretty well in terms of taking time to tune in with my body. I've managed to increase the range of motion in my hips since my surgery! Easing into heart openers and inversions since my belly is still tender. Sometimes I'll even sit in a quiet pose and concentrate on my arms. Whatever strikes my fancy seems to be good enough for now. Maybe I'll be brave enough to go to a class soon. As much as I like people, I really like being alone more.0

Hi,
Sorry I did not check this thread earlier. You are all welcome to join! Please do add me if you would like to.
I keep yoga in my days and planning to do a 30 day challenge later again, but at the moment just doing 3 classes a week and try to focus on my posture on a daily base. I use savasana and some breathing technics on a daily base as I find them amazingly effective.
I hope you did start your challenge, @slimzandra!
@alakaa - I log yoga as cardio exercise. I know it is good for strength as well but I would still consider it as cardio. You will find it in the exercise list.0
