Mostly thrash during HIIT/cardio, and Black or Death during lifting. No idea why these specific subgenres, but it just works better this way.1

I go mostly old school with Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Deicide, Venom and the like. I also listen to some newer bands and some that probably fall to the edges of the metal genre.0

Metal is more my party music so its hard to use for working out lol
But usually it would be some metallica, exodus, lambofgod, shadows fall, slayer, or older inflames0 -
In Flames, Five finger death punch, Black label society (older stuff), megadeth, motorhead, machine head, black sabbath, pantara, rob zombie/white zombie (cardio only, it bugs me during strength), cream, skindred....0

Saw them in Manchester supporting Trivium in 2011. Ended up drinking with Bjorn Gelotte talking about wah pedals (I'm a guitar player) after the gig in the bar next door!
I have Hatebreed's albums on shuffle for when I'm in the gym. Other than that, various Prong albums, Reign In Blood by Slayer and Kill by Cannibal Corpse are my training weapons of choice.

Immortal or Satyricon usually do the trick! Scattered with maybe Raging Speedhorn and My Ruin.. old Otep and Slipknot.. Punk is the best for a workout tho!1

I am pretty old school (and just old) Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Accept older Metalica some newer stuff by stoner Metal bands like The Sword and Orange Goblin, Mastodon..2

Definitely fall on the old-school metal side. Priest, Sabbath, Megadeth, Metallica, Helmet, Tool, Maiden, Pantera. More "mainstream" metal than the hardcore stuff.
But I do love going to these metal festivals they have here in Europe and hearing "new to me" bands. Just always a fun crowd and atmosphere (witness my profile pic)1 -
Lots of what is mentioned above and also Motörhead, AC/DC, Slipknot with added Steel Panther because bursting out in laughter while running is always good.1

The only real metal is black/some death metal. It's moreso hard rock nowadays imo. Behemoth, Gorgoroth, and Dimmu Borgir (well, some of there stuff) or GET THE FRIG OUT0

I find that Bullet For My Valentine, Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive, The Amity Affliction are the best bands to listen to while working out.1
