Just Starting (again) Need Support

Hello. I've done this a million times and a million times I fail. Today is my first day and my last time ever starting again.
I'm joining a gym tomorrow because I have to get out of my home and my job keeps me on my butt all day. My A1C is 8.5 so I can reverse my diabetes diagnosis and my weight is just shy of 300 lbs. I've never been this big. I'm 48 and my 30's were bad as were my 40's, I refuse to go into my 50's like this.
I need friends who will help support me through this journey. I will support anyone else too.
My best friend is not ready to face her weight problem so I'm alone. I hope my changes will encourage her as well. I have my boyfriend who is supporting me but he's been down this road with me before and I'm not sure he believes I can. I don't blame him.
So if you are looking for support and willing to give it back, please... let's be friends. There's nothing wrong in having all the help you can get.
Thanks!

I have been in your same position. I have lost and gained so many times in my life and I am now 49. I have been using MFP for awhile to track food/calories and it has really helped me. I knew I was not eating well but I was in a lot of denial about how many calories and bad foods I was consuming. One thing to remember is that what may work for one person may not work for another. I have a friend that is in this journey too and we are going about things a little differently but neither one is wrong. I'm almost to my goal weight ( 9 more lbs) but I know it doesn't end there. Everything that I've been doing the past 6 months, I'm going to have to continue for the rest of my life. My blood glucose was rising so I know that watching added sugar is something I will always have to monitor. One thing I approached differently his time was more mindful eating. I'm more concerned about the health ramifications of eating badly than the weight (although that was making me very depressed too). Everytime I put something in my mouth, I try to make myself think if it's good for me health wise or not. Also, whenever I was tempted by something unhealthy, I had to remind myself that the taste of food is such a temporary pleasure. It's literally seconds of enjoyment followed by hours (bloating, gas, lethargy) to days/months (weight gain, high blood sugar, self loathing) of misery. It's taken me awhile to get to this point mentally, so if you have ups and downs, forgive yourself and move forward. I would love to help support you along the way. You can do it!!! I aplaud you for going to the gym. This takes courage which some people don't understand, so that's a good first move. It's one day at a time. Give yourself credit for any little changes of improvement you make because it's it's one thing better that you weren't doing yesterday. The other thing I would add is be patient. It takes us awhile to get to this point so it's going to take awhile to come off and it's a life long change that needs to happen. Try to find pleasure in other things besides food. Sorry for the long ramble. I wish you the best and have confidence that you can do it this time!!0

I just started and could use support as well. I will be your friend so we can help motivate each other.0
