Well, I feel drawn to you. Although, I'm 70, older than you, but I am obese, too many health issues to list, can't seem to get it going. I feel like such a failure. Why can't I get the magic bullet to shoot to success, I honestly do not know. I feel your pain. Oh, my name is Jeanette0

I dislike the word desperate and anyone calling thwemselves a desperate dieter would make me nervous at least for them and their chances of having a successful journey. Sometimes people can be so keen to lose weight, they lose track of what works and what doesnt, believe things that arent true, have unrealistic expectations and are willing to blur the lines between whats healthy and whats not. It makes you bulnerable and with that the chances of success.
Determined or commited would ive a much better impression of how you should and wish to go about your journey.
To lose weight you need to learn about calorie counting and simply be at a consistent accurate deficit by controlling and reducing the amount you eat. Focus your energy on deficit control and maybe supplement it with some exercise of whatever you cna manage and be consistent with. Payience resilience and thoughfulness will serve you well.
Try reading the following thread and good luck. Weight loss is pretty straightforward, but you have to commit.

Know you have good reasons for saying you are desperate, but don't see them in your post. You can celebrate marriage of 17 years, you are a cancer survivor (points, points, points). I see that you have are also a patient - you can pull it off again. Here is wishing you and hubby well.0
