Squats

Can you see a difference with just body weight squats, if you've never done squats before until you can work up to the bar and increasing weight. Is the 30day squat challenge a good place to start?

BW squats are certainly better than nothing. If you're having trouble with the weight of the bar I'd suggest goblet squats with a small plate or DB and use that for progression.0

Body weight squats are good for conditioning and toning, but not necessarily for strength. They're definitely a good place to start, but if your goal is to progress to barbell squats, go ahead and use a bar, even if it's just a broomstick. That will help you get the form down.0

You can always use a broom stick to practice the form. Then work with a dumbbell/kettle bell to work on the strength. Because no- a goblet squat =/= bb squat.0

You are lifting your body weight. You will see changes. Lower squats can help activate hamstrings and hips in addition to quads. You can add dumbbell weight and/or reps as you lose weight or as the squats get easier.0

OP, you need to get your form worked out (I know you started a thread yesterday or the day before about your squat form).
And the 30day squat challenge would be a great place for you to start with that.
and then move on to the bar0 -
Yes, as a beginner you can definitely build muscle and see gains doing body weight squats.0

She's not gonna look like DLB by any means but there will be some muscle hypertrophy in the beginning until the load isn't substantial enough anymore.0
