those shakes aren't meant to be a diet - they are a shake (protein supplement) - not even meant to be meal replacements (says so right on them).

For someone your size you don't even have to go that low calorie wise to lose weight.

Under 1500 is categorized as a very low calorie diet (for men). These are generally medically supervised and not do-it-yourself projects.

What MuscleFlex said.....meal replacement and protein supplement are 2 separate things. Besides meal replacements don't teach you anything you need for maintenance. Eventually you will want to log real food, and measure portions....so you can keep the weight off (for good).

Meh if you want to use shakes for the first few weeks to learn how to deal with hunger and cravings without having to also carefully plan and measure every meal then do so. Use a real meal replacement shake though not a protein shake (get one that has a decent protein balance though). You absolutely do have to learn to measure and weigh things and control your diet on real food, but that can wait a few weeks if this makes getting started easier. Honestly I ate frozen lean cuisines and lean pockets for the first 6 weeks just so I could discipline myself to not eating outside of planned calories. I replaced a meal a day for a further 4 months after that with diet shake. I was not fully weened off of diet food until I had been dieting for like 6 months. Change takes time.

Actually this shake... Lean 25 is a meal replacement. I used it off and on for breakfast.

they are 160 calories - not sure which meal that would be replacing??? and doing that for two meals a day as the OP is doing is not a good idea.

that is a bit better then, but like someone else said - at your weight you could still lose on A LOT more than 1200 calories per day!

160 is a good snack size. I used to eat every 2hrs and I aimed at 100-200 per snack, that is around the time that I used diet shakes to make some of those snacks easier.

It's hard to understand what you're saying, but I think you're using some shake instead of eating food?
    Why?
It's cheaper to eat food, you get more nutrients, and your body registers that you've eaten something so
you won't feel hungry quickly. (For some reason, it doesn't feel calories the same way it feels food.)

As for calories, the advice from my doctor & nutritionist was to eat 10x my current weight, minus 1000,
to lose 2 lb per week. As I hit plateaus, I'd drop 50-100 cal and wait a couple weeks to see the effect.

Or just put your stats into MFP, tell it you want to lose 2 lb per week, and eat what it tells you.

There are 200 calories in the Lean 25. You may be looking at one of their other ones which is not a meal replacement.
