Emotional eater trying to have a baby

I have been trying the dieting thing for a long time now often with success but it is always short lived.
The reason for that is my relationship with food is surrounded with rules and negativity. My goal is to have a relationship with food where no food is a bad food and I don't get mad at myself for having a "bad" day.... Of course to do this I need to learn to deal with my emotions in a constructive way, some how along the way I learnt that eating a block of chocolate would make me feel better and of course at the time it does but then I end up even more upset because I've eaten a block of chocolate and so the cycle continues!
The reason I really need to change and learn to love myself is because I am trying to have a baby, which at times contributes to the emotional eating. However I want to be in optimal health for my future family both physically and mentally, I guess that is why I am on here and hoping to find support.
Emotional eaters unite!

@samgetsfit606, I am in the same boat. My husband and I have been trying for a baby for almost a year and I am not in the best shape, not even close, so I am attempting to eat healthier and exercise regularly. I'm not necessarily an emotional eater, more of a "when I get bored" eater. Either way, it is definitely a struggle to live healthier.
This app, so far, and it's accompanied community forums have been a lot of help, even when I have a not-so-successful day, and I hope you receive the same support and encouragement.
Good luck on your journey to healthier living and having a baby.0 -
Thank you good luck to you as well, I hope you're blessed with a baby soon the wait can be terrible! 6 years of waiting for me...0

I can totally relate. Ever since I starting tracking my macros it has really helped me. Carrie underwood talks openly about her food journal. Without it she has the ability to just keep eating as she doesn't have triggers to feel full. If I have a plan for the day (which I menu plan extensively) it helps me portion control AND I know what my snacks are to look forward to. I allow myself some spontaneous treats but generally allow one true cheat meal a week.0

I used to be the same way. But went something like this for me,
Id over eat
Id get depressed because i over ate and was over weight
Id eat even more
Then get even more depressed ....
It was a vicious cycle.
Finally when i came to mfp and started weighing everything i consumed and logging it, i started to get out of the habit of over eating and got into the habit of portion control and moderation. The rest was history! Just get yourself into a routine and soon enough itll become habit!0 -
Thank you so much everyone for your great advice!0
