When is the best time to eat during the day? And should I focus on protein/carbs at a certain time?

    when you are hungry.
Protein always - carbs, if needed - closer to your workouts.

    when you are hungry....

Timing of eating is of no consequence.

And no reason to focus on certain macros at certain times.

    When your hungry.

Protein & fats tend to keep me fuller than a meal with just carbs. That said, there is nothing wrong with carbs and it doesn't matter when you eat them.

Yes, with one caveat. If you have bloodsugar issues, you want to eat protein with your carbs. Otherwise, any healthy person should eat when they are hungry. It doesn't matter when or how often, as long as your daily calorie total is less than you burn.

Typically I eat 30 min within waking. Then every 3 hours for five total meals. I never feel hungry unless I missed a snack. I generally eat a protein snack pre n post workout if uts intense. If I wait to eat when im hungry I tend to overeat or its im really thirsty. Generally I try to eat last meal around 6. it is good to eat last meal two hours before bed. Its easier on digestion.

Also going to say when you are hungry. The timing is going to be different for everyone. For weight loss it does not matter if you eat all your calories at 9 PM or spread them out throughout the day. For you to function well and be happy you might find you do better eating more or less often.
For me personally, I function pretty well spreading my calories out between 3 meals and 1-2 snacks throughout the day.

Experiment on what works best for you

Some do better to eat most food and lunch and dinner, some do better with a bigger breakfast and lunch

It will get down to feeling full and satisfied.

I have to eat more veggies and salad to feel full. Time does not matter. Lots of people get full when eating fiber, so it isn't uncommon at all.

Today I woke up sore and starved! So I know I need to have a big lunch salad with salmon maybe, then a good grilled chicken and veggies dinner. Today will be a hungry day so I need to plan for it.

One thing for sure, my hunger never goes away if I don't plan for it. I don't want to over eat calorie rich foods. So.. Enter veggies and salad

Meal timing has only negligible effect on weight loss. Time your meals to support your lifestyle and goals. Some people find that eating 6 small meals a day helps them stay full and not overeat. Others find that intermittent fasting, eating all their calories within a smaller time window, helps them to not overeat.

As for macros, most people find that including fats and fiber in their meals helps with satiety. Carbs before and after a workout helps with energy and restoring glycogen, especially if they're simple carbs (low fiber). Increasing your overall protein can help protect muscle mass while eating at a deficit.

    Otherwise, it's all just preference.

I've noticed that if I don't have enough calories during the day, then I have more cravings at night. Even if my total calories for the day are the same. It's like residual hunger. For me, shifting more calories to lunch helps kill night cravings.

Planning around this dynamic works for me. Also, not eating late at night gives your body a chance to rest and repair while you sleep without still working to digest food.
