Should I size the rings? or wait

My wedding band, engagement ring and anniversary band are all too big. The engagement ring is still snug enough that I don't worry about losing it, but I'm using it now to keep my other rings on (and safe).

So my question is, should I get them sized down now, knowing that I'll have to get them sized again later on? Or should I just put them in the safe deposit box til I'm done losing weight? Sizing costs about $30-40 per ring (so $90-120 for sizing).

I say invest in a nice chain and wear the rings around your neck until you reach your goal weight. You'll definitely need to have them resized again later. (But I'm pretty frugal.)

    Congratulations on those shrinking fingers!

I am waiting til I am where I want to stay at. I have about 20lbs to go and have lost about 40 since I got them. I guess it depends on what you are more comfortable with. Congrats on the weightloss thus far though!! You are doing great!

I would wait so you only have to do it once... It is a nice way to celebrate your accomplishment, and I know it is hard to take off something that is so meaningful, but think how disappointed you would be if you lost them before you had them sized ... and it really is a major expense to do it more than once. But I am definitely the pragmatist.

Maybe find a sturdy necklace to wear them around your neck until you have found your final weight? You may find that once you get to your goal weight you change your other fitness goals a little too.

i would suggest waiting until you hit your goal. they make ring sizers that you can put on your rings to make them fit better in the mean time if you want to continue to wear them

Sounds like you are good to go until the last of the three is too lose. I'd probably pick one and re-size it now - I'm kind of a sentimental one. Then I'd re-size them all when I reached my goal.

Congrats and good luck for the rest of your journey!

Oooooo! Good suggestion! I forgot about the sizer thingies. I thought about putting them on a chain, but there's a lot of gold on my rings, so they're kind of heavy. I'd need a rapper style chain to keep the rings safe.

I'll go to my jeweler about getting either spacer bars or the sizer thingies!

Take your ring to your jewelers for a ring guard. It's a small piece of metal shaped like a capital I. The long part of the I fits inside the circle of your ring, and the top/bottom of the I wrap around the band to hold it into place. I had my rings fused into one, so I only have one ring guard. I don't know how they'll handle your three rings. BTW, I don't find the ring guard to be terribly comfortable, but I'm willing to put up with it so I don't wash my rings down the sink at work. Cost-- $10 installed, no waiting. Eventually I will have my rings sized down. This is a good stop gap measure. Good luck.

get a metal or plastic ring guard until you are ready to size them later on. When I got my engagement ring, I was around 10 lbs heavier than I am today and was also 2 months pregnant so my ring didn't fit and I made it bigger. When I had lost all my baby weight, It was too big. I've been wearing ring guards on my rings since a year after my son was born. I hope to get my rings sized soon.

if you have one of those quick fix places in your mall you can get a sizer put on for about 6.00 per ring. it'll get you through until you get down where you will be forever...

IMO ... I would wait and save the money. That way you don't have to worry about resizing again if you lose more.
