I'm NOT hungry.. But I guess I should eat.. :-/

I've always had a HUGE appetite. One does not get to be over 300 lbs without loving food. However recently - as I've been working on life changes - I've become very aware of hunger. TRUE hunger - not "I'm angry, so I'm gonna pig out", or "There's something yummy in the fridge calling my name". The physical feeling of hunger. I've nearly NEVER felt it.

Now I don't want anyone commenting that feeling starved is a bad idea. I know that. If you let yourself get TOO hungry it's definitely bad because then we tend to make poor food choices along with other great things like headaches, anger, etc. So I know that and I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about just cutting out the EMOTIONAL eating.

Anyhow my point is - now that I am doing much better with not gorging due to emotions, plus I've started exercising (made a group on here about a 21 Day Challenge to exercise Daily). I find myself just not hungry for long stretches of time. I keep looking at the clock going "Well, it's been 3 1/2 hours since breakfast, I guess I should eat...." But I don't WANT to. O - btw, I'm diabetic. So yeah the blood sugar dives and I need to eat every few hours, yadda yadda - I know. But I don't WANT to... :(

Have your tried smaller meals, so you would be ready for your next snack/meal 2- 3 hours after?

I eat every two hours. Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, Snack, Snack, Dinner. Even if I'm not hungry, I eat to make sure I'm getting my calories evenly throughout the day and to keep my metabolism up.

I've been feeling like this lately too....I think I have "diet fatigue". To keep myself on track with cals and keep it easy to count, I've not been getting a lot of variety in my foods from day to day (but am eating balanced within the day). I do have a high threshold for food tedium, so it's been fine so far. But I think the lack of variety is getting to me now and I just am not wanting to eat (although I am making myself do it). Perhaps you are just not *enjoying* eating as much anymore? Eating "for fuel and not for fun," and have just hit a bit of a wall with it? I found I had much more of an appetite when I was eating "tastier" foods. I know I will find a way around this, but I am experiencing what you are too. This is just my theory about why it might be happening.

Now there's an idea. I do have a rather large/filling breakfast. I have a 1/2 cup (dry) of oatmeal (which is over a cup cooked) and I add about a Tbs of honey, a 1/2 to 1 cup of blueberries (depending on what I feel like that day), and a 1/4 cup of almonds. After that I am quite comfortable and just don't need food for several hours.

At this point it's been nearly 6 hours since I've eaten and I'm starting to actually be hungry. So I'm off to eat. But this is a daily occurrence. Maybe I should take the almonds out of my breakfast?

Yes, oatmeal is very filling. I eat 1/4 cup dry steel cut oats with 1/3 of a chopped apple, 1 T pure maple syrup, 15 grams chopped walnuts, & 1/2 tsp. cinnamon. It is SO delicious and usually lasts me 3 - 4 hours.

I start out my morning with a smoothie, then about 2 to 2-1/2 hours later I have that oatmeal, or 1/4 raw almonds. Feel free to take a look at my food diary.

I know 1/2 cup dry is the serving size for regular oats, so you could try cutting down on the amount of almonds you add. 1/4 cup is quite a bit and almonds are filling on their own.
