I think that this might be too good to be true. This Wikipedia article states that wakame helps burn fat. I need all the help I can get- I have sugar/endocrine issues and am taking cinnamon and chromium and am on a lower carb diet. I have also been exercising a lot. All have really helped with my energy levels. I was wondering if anyone has tried wakame to burn fat. I wish that someone would do more research on this! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wakame

We have one study on rats.

In the meantime, don't think you can lose weight by eating lots of seaweed. You would have to eat enormous amounts of wakame before you would get enough fucoxanthin to see even the slightest effect on weight, because the substance is bound tightly to proteins in the seaweed and is not easily absorbed in the form of whole seaweed.

In the fucoxanthin-fed mice, WAT weight significantly decreased and UCP1 was clearly expressed in the WAT, while there was no difference in WAT weight and little expression of UCP1 in the glycolipids-fed mice. This result indicates that fucoxanthin upregulates the expression of UCP1 in WAT, which may contribute to reducing WAT weight.

No. Eat less to reduce weight. Work your muscles to preserve them.

Don't eat too much seaweed, it is extremely high in iodine. I eat a couple pieces of dried kelp or wakame a week.

I have been eating it because I like it and it's not very high in calories. I love seaweed salad. If it works for burning fat, i am way more in love with it. I have just started eating it regularly in a salad with other veggies like carrots and baby kale. I hope it works miracles! If not, I will still like it.
