Uh, so I started my own routine exactly one week ago, and got on the scale today.. I'm down almost 11 pounds in just a week. Is this healthy??

Probably mostly water weight. No worries, it should sort itself out soon!

But everyone I've talked to has said water weight will be around four to six pounds. This is about double..

Depends on how much you have to lose. There are those who have a lot to lose that will lose that much the first week.

It also depends on how high your starting weight was. Starting at over 400, 11 in a week, not too bad. Starting at 185, losing 11 in the first week, not such a great idea. How do you feel? Are you eating and feeling satisfied when you're finished? Are you sleeping well? Lots of things go into whether the plan you have is a good one. Listen to your body. It will tell you most of what you need to know....you just have to listen :)

I know my weight varies a lot. And on one of my weeks where I lost a lot of what I assume was water weight if I took the max weight on week 1 and minimum weight on week 2 it would come out to more than what you're seeing. I would not freak out unless you see this happen consistently over a few weeks.

I was 182, now I'm almost 171. I feel fine. I started an exercise routine, maybe that's what it is? I've been eating a lot, so I'm not really sure how I'm losing weight.. I thought I wasn't doing a good job.

Initial water loss is normal. No one can answer the question unless you provide more info, like how many calories you're consuming.

Did you switch from highly processed foods to fresher ones? You could have dropped lots of sodium. I can gain/lose 5lbs in one day!

I still wouldn't worry too much if it doesn't keep up. Then again I'm not a medical pro :/

Height, weight, age, mfp settings, goals, exercise levels, believed deficit?

COULD it be water weight, sure it COULD.

Is it significantly faster than what a generally recommended weight loss rate would be.... YEAH!

Actually, the past few days I've been eating at fast food places. This is, again, why I'm so confused. I mean, don't get me wrong- I'm happy! Just doesn't add up to me, that's all.

Did you weigh under the same conditions? Meaning clothed vs naked, am vs pm, empty belly vs full belly?

It kind of just varies. I combined many things. In the morning I do the couch to 10K (C210K) app which is run for one minute, walk for two, then repeat 8 times. In the after noon I walk or bike 2 miles. Then at night I do 10 pushups, 50 situps, 50 arm curls.

TheVirgoddess, yes. Morning, in the same night gown, with an empty stomach.

I lost around the same my first week - but I was quite a bit heavier than you. I wouldn't worry about it unless it continues. Enjoy your success :)
