Joe's Crab Shack

So my family and I are going to Joe's for my brother's birthday dinner. I looked at the menu, and there's very little healthy items. I'm trying to stay on track tonight, especially since there's going to be cake later that I want to allow myself.

Has anyone been there? Do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

It's all fried food. Unless you get a salad, not much you can have that is healthy there.

Why don't you go for a nice long walk and bank some calories for later?

I lke the Crab Balls.... don't laugh.

They have a chicken meal that is pretty good. I guess you could order it without the sauce..
I pulled this from their website, its a description of the meal. It comes with seasonal veggies and dirty rice.

    Cheesy Chicken

Panko crusted chicken breast covered in a creamy Cajun seafood and mushroom sauce. Served with crab dirty rice and seasonal vegetables.

You have several options to make dinner fit the 800ish calories you have left for the day (if you're going tonight):
    - Bucket of shrimp, 18ct (300 cal) + side salad (80 cal) + half a serving of dressing (100ish cal) + veggie side (70-150 cal)
    - Any of the crab buckets (230 cal max) + potatoes and corn side (200 cal)
    - Maui Mahi (480 cal)
    - Grilled Malibu Shrimp (520 cal)

I'm not a big fan of crab meat. I was just wondering if anyone had ordered something that wasn't exactly on the menu, or if you did order off the menu, what did you get?

Last time we went I got one of the steam pots - enough for two meals. Just budget earlier in the day (or days around) and enjoy some good food with good friends.

Mussels, Bucket of Shrimp, Steampots, corn, grilled salmon…

Mooch a hushpuppy or two off of somebody else.

Your best bet is probably just to get a bucket of crab with the potato and corn side, or some side salad with vinegar, and avoid the butter, or the Maui Mahi (it wasn't fantastic but at least low enough calories).

If I remember the last time I went I ordered grilled shrimp and got double veggies (I'm pretty sure it was broccoli) and a side salad...I never really use dressing, ask for the dressing on the side, and of course water to drink
Enjoy the special time with your family

Yeah, the crab buckets, as long as you stay away from the hush puppies and butter,
are pretty low cal. You can also order a side of vegetables for about 150.

    LOL

How about snow crab (190 calories) with a side of potatoes and corn (200 calories)?
