is this normal?

Since I've lost weight, whenever I lay down I have a bloated stomach - it isn't fat as it is very hard. It also pulsates on the left where my stomach is quite noticably. Should I visit my GP or is this to be expected if I am slim?

Sometimes on thin to average weight people the pulse of the abdominal aorta can be seen when a person is laying flat and still.
As for the hardness...are you moving your bowels regularly?0 -
Sometimes a portion of the intestine can break through the stomach muscle, a hernia. See a Doctor. If you experience pain, nausea or vomiting without a fever seek emergency treatment.0

I can see my heart in my stomach sometimes when I'm slim. That's normal, if that's what it is.
If it's hard...when's the last time you pooped? LOL.0 -
Is it painful? If so, skip the Gp and call 911. A pulsating abdominal mass can be very serious and deadly.0

I also feel/see the same thing. Its like my heartbeat in my stomach when im laying on my back. I was told this is normal and not to worry about it by my doctor.
But if it's bloating, pain, AND throbbing, i wish you the best of luck! See your doctor, it may be something worth getting checked out!0 -
I experience the pulsing all the time and I font want to sound odd, but the sensation of an earthquake. For me this is mormal, but like the others said, a check up would be appropriate if you are concerned.0

Been waiting to use that gif for ages.
OP, go to your GP if you're worries. It's probably something simple that you haven't noticed because you were heavier.

Go to your doctor. We don't know you and the only thing we can share is what's normal for us, not what might or might not be normal for you.0 -

I think they're talking about the same thing i was. You cannot see your physical heart, LOL. But you can see your stomach (especially right around the belly button) pulsing to your heart beat.

Medic here. Slim people can feel a pulse in their abdomen because of the aorta that comes down off your heart to feed blood to your legs. Less fat in the way and you can feel it. However, it should not ever be a mass you can feel externally with your hands. A mass that pulsates indicates an aneurysm in the aorta (a bulge coming out of the aorta due to high pressure, genetics, sometimes traumatic damage). This bulge can look like part of a ballon animal (I love visuals, lol) and it's dangerous because it can rupture unexpectedly and cause massive bleeding into your abdomen. The hernia is also an option, however less likely to cause pulsing. Lay flat and do a sit up. If it's a hernia you might be able to see a muscle jump and appear flexed in an awkward position from normal. Go to your doc and get checked please!0
