How you know if you have anterior pelvic tilt caused by bad posture? I am 5 ft 5, 143.6 lbs and do Boot camp workouts 3 times a week.

    Have someone take a photo of you from the side. If your pelvis tilts down, butt sticks out and stomach pouts out (i.e. this), then you have APT.

    Work on your core muscles, glute raises, hip stretches and hip flexxor stretches every day and you can fix it. I've improved mine a lot in a couple of months. Made a real difference to the appearance of my stomach.

    edit - just checked your photos; in my non-expert opinion, you look to have APT.

    I don't think it's caused by bad posture, but sitting down a lot can cause it. Its from having some muscles being too tight and others being too weak.

    This site has a run down of the muscles causing it and some stretches to work it out.

    If it's bad I'd get it checked by a doctor before trying to fix it yourself. Mine was really bad and thought it was from sitting down all day, but turned out to be from the weird way I walk which had caused my muscles to become weak/tight in the wrong places.

    I am not a runner, but thanks for posting this! Very interesting info, and I can still use the info for making sure my walking posture is better. Perhaps it will help me to walk longer, with less pain.

    I have always thought i did but wasn't sure. Thanks for all the comments. I will read up on it some more discuss with a doctor.

    It's pretty obvious to see, It's caused by over active and under active muscles.

    It also helps to thoroughly stretch the hip muscles regularly. Often they (those at the front going from pelvis to thigh) are shortened from sitting a lot. Btw, stretching wasn't so much of an issue for me as I'm very flexible but it was more of a weak core thing. I 'grew' by 2cm since I started working out regularly, just from a more straight up posture. My size in my passport is wrong now :smiley: And I finally gained the 2cm I always wanted to have. :blush:
