The topic of this message is pretty clear by the subject line, but I was wondering how a lot of you are planning to eat well, drink well, and protion your sizes all over the holiday weekend!? I know this can be difficult for me because there are so many desserts and chips, and fatty foods at cookouts and restaurants during this extended weekend..I was wondering what plans any of you have set for yourself, or what you do to stay in control and not binge eat and drink all week! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, I am concerned, but plan to keep the workouts in to balance it out. Try veggies and hummus instead of chips and dip. Enjoy!0

We are grilling marinated chicken kabobs with veggies instead of doing burgers and hot dogs0

Keep pushing water, add more exercise, watch portion size, count those calories. There are going to be holidays for the rest of our life so we need to plan accordingly. You can still have a BBQ and enjoy most (if not all) of the fixings in moderation.0

Here's my diet plan: I'm not going anywhere, I'm staying home.0

I always eat before the party. I will eat a meal bar then I am not so hungry at the party. We are hosting at my house on Sunday so hopefully I'll be too busy to snack...Not likely! We will not be serving low-fat hot dogs and turkey burgers due to my family that is coming. They are not going to go for that. Plus I have always cooked terribly unhealthy foods so that is what they are expecting. Plus water, water, water. I also have saved up this week so I have about an extra 300 calories for Sunday. I pray for strenght b/c potato salad is my weakness!0

LOL, I may have to do the same!0 -
My plan is to get some exercise in, at least! The cookout I am going to tomorrow is BYO meat to grill, so my plan is turkey burgers, and possibly bring a fruit or veggie side that I know is healthy. I also got some Johnsonville turkey sausages that I will probably grill with the family on Monday.
Last weekend I had an excellent asian-inspired slaw that I am going to try to get the recipe from my friend! It was soy-sesame based dressing , not mayo or other fatty dressing. I might make that this weekend as well!0 -
Easter killed me. Gained 3.5 lbs and took a month to get back to pre-Easter weight. Depressing.
It is hard to log food without my scale to measure portions and ingredients list / recipes to know what is in things I didn't prepare myself. This holiday gonna try to satisfy myself with just one bite of the things I want so I don't feel deprived.
Good Luck!0 -
The festivities are at my house, so We are planning the food around what I'd like to eat (but have other options available as well, ie Dogs, burgers, brats), I plan on doing my normal routine that I've been on since my journey began on May 1, 2011 - with one exception. We are celebrating my daughters, father-in-laws,as well as my birthday this Sunday so there will be cake and what not. My lovely wife is going to make me one of her cool-whip/jello pies for me to give me a slightly healthier option!0

I don't have crazy plans for the weekend but I do forsee some grilling in my memorial day weekend future. I am DEFINETLY hitting up skinnytaste.com so I can show up with healthy alternatives to the greasy burgers and fattening side dishes. That website has THE BEST recipes that allow you to stay in your calorie goal!
Plus, (hoping the weather will be nice), I will try to be outside riding my bike, walking my dog or getting any kind of exercise that I can! I just keep thinking that it is just a weekend, my goals should definetly take presedence.
Good Luck and have a great holiday!! :drinker:0 -
I'm a little more worried this time because I know there are goodies waiting for me... I'm going to try to get some exercise in to balance it out though so I don't feel too bad about indulging.
One thing that helps me if I'm going to a BBQ is to bring a pasta salad. Use whole wheat rotini, lots of veggies, some turkey pepperoni, a little 2% cheese and a fat free italian dressing or vineagrette. At least that way I know there's one thing on the buffet table that I can have more than just a taste of (or get 2nds of if I'm hungry).0 -
I"m sticking to wine, boca burgers, fruit, and veggies. lotsa water in between drinks and allowing myself to indulge, but not overly so.0

my diet plan involves working long hours all weekend with no time to really go out anyway....0

For me, it is all about portion control. ONE hot dog. A small serving of potato salad. A little bit of dessert/sweets. Keep your portions in check and you can eat just about anything. Easier said than done, of course...0
