Check out a C25K program or app. Don't hesitate to start by walking, and then mixing up walking with some bursts of running, and building up to running. Also, try to run slowly. Believe it or not if you are new to running you will make yourself a stronger/faster runner by running slower. It seems crazy, but it's true.

^^^ this. C25K (Couch to 5KM) is a gentle run-walk-run program that will get you going. If you happen to find it too easy, resist the urge to pick up your pace to make it harder, just make the walk breaks shorter.

A mistake many make when starting running, or coming back to it (guilty as charged) is to focus on pace and consequently drive pace too high. Training at a slower pace will build your aerobic capacity, allow you to be running longer, and will significantly reduce the chance of injury.

Try to ensure your training runs are carried out at a pace that you can carry on something of a conversation out loud. If you are gasping to talk, you are running too fast - slow down. If you have a heart rate monitor that reports in real time, you can use it to help govern your pace - try 180-your age as a target to hit and maintain. The conversation-meter works just as well when starting out.

Do you have a specific running goal in mind? Check out the free training plans on Hal Higdon's web site (everything from 5K to marathon and just finishing to running competitively)

    Truth.

This point was key to me becoming a runner a couple of months ago.

I started walking to zombies run today and enjoyed it if I really like it thru season 2 I'll likely go back and jog/walk every other day with normal walking to the current season, using the chase feature.

Addictive and highly time consuming!! If I could keep up with it, I would!

Sounds like it is a good program, but maybe a little tough.
