I have been searching online and can't seem to find the right answer. I'm 5'1 and I want to know what the recommended weight is.

I'm 5"2 and the recommended weight hovers somewhere around 50kg+/110lb , which was when I was still quite chubby so I lost more weight.
You can try this calculator. chealth.canoe.com/health_tools.asp?channel_id=0&relation_id=0&t=15&calculate=1&text_id=1858&ideal_height_1=1&unit_height1=m&ideal_height_2=59&unit_height2=cm&unit=2&calculate=Calculate
It says I ought to be around 47-53kg. Strangely for you it seems to say 44 - 60kg. 60kg is too much!0 -
I'm 5'1" and last I weighed at the doctor's office (scale I trust) was 130 pounds. When I do the BMI thing online with that weight I'm on the high end of normal/healthy. I've lost a few pounds since, I think (scales at the gym I go to all give different numbers so not sure how accurate) -- roughly 125-ish now?
Anyway I think it depends on your build (not just being extra muscular per se, but your natural body structure). At 130, I was/am not obese or even really overweight looking, but def not svelt or skinny. I have largish bones, big hips, boobs, thickish/"athletic"?limbs etc and prob some muscle from biking and lifting stuff at work. So 130 on me looks different from, for example, my half Japanese friend who is the same height but much smaller build.
There's also a website, I forget the name, where you can plug in your weight, height, age, pants size and see photos of others with the same digits. Kinda voyeuristic internet time sucker, but interesting nonetheless for perspective.
I know having been on and off, (mostly on) in the not clearly obese but borderline chubby/sorta-not-fat range, it helps to get an idea.0 -
I'm 5'1.5''...My goal is 54-55kg, which is the middle of my BMI range. ATM I'm around 58-59kg. I was at 57kg for a while and pretty happy there, though I do think 54-55kg (118-120lb) would be good for me and give me a bit of wiggle room, so after a break, I'm now aiming to get there.
I'm very muscular, so 50kg seems too low for my frame. I think, it does depend on your build not just your weight. I've seen taller people, that weigh less than me and look heavier due to less muscle. So I'll probably always be happier in the mid to higher healthy BMI range, than low to mid range.
You just need to see, what you look like and if you are happy with that. Look at pics...the mirror never tells me the truth even after a year at this weight.0 -
Hi I'm 5ft 1 and and 139lbs. . I would be happy at 125 - 130 ..I'm big boobed and am happy a bit curvy. .... I think it's all personal preference. . I'm trying not to get too obsessive though....0

5'1" here.
Started at 130, now maintain with a range of 100-105 lb ( 45-47.5kg). It is a weight that suits me, though I realise it isn't for everyone - the 130 was a mid- life anomaly.
I am small to medium boned with a layer of fat on top, and enough muscle to carry a 30 lb grandson across the park, or dead lift half my weight, nestled in between.
My avatar was taken when I was celebrating my 60th birthday weighing 105 lb (47.5kg).
Bone structure and lbm can make a big difference to how ones weight looks. At the bottom of my bmi range I look fine; at the top ( 130lb), with no muscle, I look awful. For others it can be the reverse.

I'm 5'1" and definitely overweight now, but WiiFit keeps telling me that I should be around 112lbs. Which sounds outrageous to me as I have incredibly large boobs. My goal is 127ish.0

It's individual to body type. Ask a doctor.0

There can be quite a range for "healthy" weight depending on your body composition and workout routine.
I'd say anywhere from 95 to 135 lbs.
My girl is 5'0'' and 107 lbs. - She carries like 70% of her bodyweight in her booty and thighs, but her waist is 25 inches and looks like a drastic hourglass shape. She is currently cutting to lose more weight, and it's not an unhealthy plan at all for her body composition.0 -
Maybe...?
I am 4'11"/149cm and aiming for about 60kg which is 130lbs I think. I have a large frame and I don't want to be weak. My deadlift is 75kg max, I would hate to be so tiny that my strength went right down. I want decent muscle mass.

Thanks for that link Minties81. It confirmed I was where I want to be.

Thanks for that picture! Makes me feel like my goal is accurate!0

Glad it was helpful! It is so interesting how we are all so individual. My mother is 50 and weighs about the same as you @middlehaitch and wears lots of kids clothes, she is tiny (5'2"), but she has an extremely low amount of muscle and definitely can not pick my small children up. She has enough thigh gap for an extra leg!0

Hahaha, Minties. Only a small thigh gap here, never liked it.
I am almost straight up and down, my 2 sisters got my share of boobs, and I always think that is why the 100-105 works for me. No boobs, no butt.
Cheers, h.0
