Hi and welcome. Sadly, you just have to do it. I do not mean to be harsh, but to succeed, we need to stay within our calorie limit. However, you can start slowly, so that it is not too overwhelming. Maybe start with drinking more water and cutting out a certain really bad food, and still logging your food, even if you go over your limit. Find something fun to replace your emotional eating. I know, easier said than done.

I am only on day 16 and have been struggling forever with weight, so I know how hard it is.

One day at a time, one pound at a time.....we will get there!

Oh and there are lots of supportive people here, so lean on them

Welcome Monica. Focus on the reason you want to lose the weight. For me it was my wife and children and I kept them at the front of my thoughts every day when I started my journey. Be sure you dont drop your calories to low to quickly. You want to eat as much as you can and lose 1-2 lbs a week. Post here for support when you need it and don't hesitate to lean on the community.

Hi Monica, you have started the journey, so give yourself a high five! Next you need to remember that it's going to take time, no quick fix will ever last. I'm an emotional eater too, happy, sad or indifferent I choose food! So I have had to change the way I choose it, nothing is banned as long as it fits my calorie goal. I also started dragging myself off the sofa and walking most days for about an hour. It's boring so I now take an audio book. When I get home I feel great! And sleep better. And might be in the mind but I feel like I'm toning my legs and bum a bit.
Anyway, I just want you to know that you can do this, I promise! I've lost 2 stone since March and I have another 3 to go. I've been overweight so long and I was brainwashing myself everyday, every meal instead of thinking about what was going into my mouth.
Good luck with your journey!!! I find the community here so motivating so add me if you want to and let me know how you are feeling, every day if it helps!!:)

Hi Monica. Welcome and congrats on taking the first step.
With 100lbs to lose, make sure you don't set your calories too low. If you try to eat to few calories, you will be hangry all the time and more likely to binge, get frustrated and give up. (Experience speaking!!)

Over time we have been sold the weight loss myth that you need to hardly eat to lose weight - lots of fad diets. That's all rubbish so don't fall for it. I started with 88lbs to lose, have set my calories at 1820 per day, and am losing slowly but sustainably. I encourage you to find the right, sensible level for you.

As for emotional eating, you need to find something else to comfort you. That something is different for a lot of people. Food will fuel your body, it never gives you a hug.
