I understand that results take time; however, I have reduced my caloric intake dramatically and going to the gym 6 days out of the weeks for 2+ weeks now and I have GAINED weight. I see positive differences in my body as well as my family but I just get so discouraged when I look at the scale.
What am I doing wrong!?

Nothing. It's just water weight, it will go down eventually.0

Not having enough patience.
2 weeks - especially at the very beginning of changing up your eating & exercise routine - is far too soon to start expecting any results or analyzing trends.0 -
When you work out, your muscles retain water to help in the repair process. As you've just started going to the gym, your body just started retaining that water and that is why you've seen an increase on the scale.
The above assumes that you are eating at or below maintenance level.0 -
No idea if you are doing anything wrong. One thing that could be happening and is normal is you are holding water. When a new workout routine is incorporated and you engage muscles that have not been engaged in a while, the body will hold water to help in the repair of the muscles. This usually lasts a few weeks and will subside.
That being said, are you logging and weighing your food accurately?0 -
Thank you everyone.
I am new to this so I never knew muscles retained water to help with the repairing process in the beginning so that may be the cause.
Thank you so much for all your replies!0
