Question about Rice

I'm from the Philippines and we pretty much eat rice with every meal. Sometime I've never understood (even years into MFP) is how is 1 cup of rice measured? Is this one cup of rice cooked or uncooked?
Thanks for the help

I weigh my rice uncooked but in grams on a scale rather than a cup0

Because it can vary so much due to water, it's better to measure uncooked.0

I measure and log my rice cooked. When I look for it in the database, I put the type of rice and both words "cup cooked "to get a calorie count.0

Also-- I measure it cooked because rice is usually served " family style" And if I don't cook it - it gets easier to eyeball 1 cup. If you want very strict accuracy -- do as the above posters suggest. ( dry on scale before cooking). It depends on how you do with calorie deficits--if your not losing -- you will want to measure stricter.0

I use the MFP-entered food items, which are based on the US Department of Agriculture National Nutrient Database.
On average, 56g (0.3 cups) "Rice, white, long-grain, regular, raw, enriched" yields 158g (1 cup) "Rice - White, long-grain, regular, cooked."
