Ever since I graduated college I've been struggling to find a balance between partying with friends/all the great bars and restaurants in Boston and keeping up with me fitness and nutrition goals. I'd love to find people struggling with the same issue!

    I won't tell you that a party lifestyle and weight loss are mutually exclusive--they're not.

    Other than the "calories-in-calories-out" thing that you surely already know about, I have two pieces of advice that are essential:

    1. Cut back on the alcohol--hopefully your friends aren't the type who both (a) heavily drink and (b) EXPECT you to heavily drink with them;

    2. Work out, every day if possible.

    (This is not at all scientific, just my general advice.)

    Hey, thanks. I know in theory how to find the balance, I was able to lose 30+ lbs in college. But as a working adult it's a lot harder to schedule in the exercise that got me there (2 hours, 6-7 days a week) and there's just not as much of a support system. I'm hoping to find some people who are also looking for friends to keep them motivated and share the experience.

    Hey, fellow Bostonian here! its especially hard in the summer for me, with all the concerts and cook-outs. I just try to make healthier food choices whenever possible and exercise during the week. No excuses! I struggle here and there but being healthier, for me, is more important then "partying". Also, I got a fitbit, which helps me since I sit at a desk all day at work. Gets me motivated to want to walk more, and its a challenge I can do with my friends (since they also have a fitbit) :)

    I know how you feel I work in Kendal Square and there is just so much great food in Boston!

    I also work in Kendall Square! I keep getting sucked into cocktails and fried appetizers at State Park.
