I have reached a plateau once again. I'm beginning to think I may not eat enough. I earn an average of 600 exercise calories a day but I still try not to go over my 1200 calorie limit. I do a different workout every day. I won't say my eating habits are perfect but I do try to stay away from foods that are bad for you. I do allow the occasional 1oz. bag of chips with my lunch or 1/2 cup of ice cream. HELP!!!! What can I do?????

    • Are you weighing your foods with an electric food scale?
    • Are you weighing your foods accurately? i.e. using grams instead of cups
    • How are you obtaining your calorie burns? HRM, MFP or machines?

OP, open your diary. Seeing as you're already eating 1200 calories, just eat back 100% of your exercise calories... you're already going to be in a deficit anyways.

Stop labeling foods 'unhealthy' and 'healthy'. Everything is unhealthy in abundance.

How long have you been plateaued? Could you open up your food diary?

What they said if you want anything other than generic advice.

    My guess is:

    1. Its not really going to be a plateau.
    2. You are eating more than you think because your deficit control is inaccurate.
    3. Upi havent spent time to understand properly how cico works and appreciate that weight loss is not linear.
    4. you only have 3lb to lose?

Once you have sorted the above out then you will end up eating less and moving more to get you to an accurate deficit.

Half a cup of ice cream? Yep, you're logging is probably not accurate. You need to weigh that stuff on a scale in grams.

We can't solely make a decision that she isn't logging accurately from one thing... we need her to open her diary but it seems the OP isn't activate atm.

I want to lose more than 3 but I'm setting smaller goals. I would be happy at 130...

If you are eyeballing things then it is most likely that you are underestimating how many calories you are eating.

I went back a few weeks and a few things stood out:

    1. Start using a food scale. Eyeballs are the least accurate thing that you can use.
    2. It looks like you are using a lot of generic food entries. These are usually estimates at best.
    3. Are the homemade entries ones that you put into the recipe builder? If not then don't use them. You don't know what the person who made it put into their recipe and it can be inaccurate from anywhere from a few calories to a few hundred calories.
    4. You have a few days that you didn't log and a few days that look like you didn't log everything.

Looking at your diary, I believe you're eating more than you think. "Generic" pizza by the slice, 3/4 cups of pasta salad, Chinese food entries point to this.

Even the chicken thighs- You don't state whether they're skinless, but show 360 calories for 12oz. This would be closer to 700-800 calories for 12 oz.

My advice would be to tighten up your logging by purchasing a food scale, and see how that goes for a month.

It was recommended to me that once a plateau has been reached that the best thing to do is change your muscle group workouts and drink 2-3 extra litres of water.

Thank you for all of your feedback! I have started doing different workouts each day with increased weight, I will start using my food scale and be more accurate with my food logging, and increase my water intake!
