Yoga Block

I enjoy doing yoga DVDs and none of the exercises call for a yoga block. A video on YouTube by a yoga instructor named Ekhart has me wondering if it'd be a worthwhile investment. She used a yoga block during bridge pose to help release the sacrum. Anyone have a yoga block? Was it worth the cost? Are there that many poses where a yoga block is beneficial?

Yoga blocks are very helpful. Marshalls and TJ Maxx often have them on sale. You should get a pair.0

Amazon has a really good price on the cork blocks; which I suggest over the foam ones for sure!0

Good quality, firm foam ones that can bear some weight are fine, too, if your budget is limited.0

12 bucks - best money I ever spent. If you have any interest in yoga- get them.
We had to for dance... and I got the larger pro-source ones- and my stretching is so much better with the blocks- it's not even a "cheat". Like I actually just get a deeper better stretch with the blocks.
I need a second pair for home- I leave my other ones at the dance studio.0 -
just because the video doesn't use a block doesn't mean you shouldn't. In many cases it will help you get to the pose better. I can be used in so many ways. I have 2 and they are the best investments. They were not expensive at all.0

Yes, blocks are very helpful for enabling you to perform poses with good form if you are unable to reach the floor, e.g. in trikonasana, as well as support some postures, like in bridge as you describe.
I attend a class and we use blocks nearly every session.
They only cost a few ££s (or $$s) and are definitely worth it.0 -
Yes, yoga blocks are well worth the investment. I have some foam and cork, all great.0

I have one, and I wish I had two! I got mine at a Goodwill, but they aren't that expensive to begin with. I use them to help me get into the lunges, and to support my bad knee in cobbler's pose and hold it between my legs for bridge pose. I also used it to help me get into tree pose before I was able to balance for a long time and lift my leg high enough onto my other leg.0

I don't own any blocks but most of my yoga is done at a yoga studio. We use blocks almost every class. If I practiced yoga at home more often I would invest in some.0

I'm the minority here. But I've been doing yoga on and off for about 17 years and I don't really care for blocks. I'll use them occasionally if the teached wants us too but never at home. I had one once and never used it. It's not a big investment if you decide to get one though.0
