Just for fun... Day before weigh in

For whatever reason, my weigh in days are Wednesdays... So even though I have been working hard all week, Tuesdays I try to eat lighter meals, get in an extra walk/workout, and try to use the bathroom a few extra times before stepping on the scale Wednesday morning. What are a few of your quirks before your weigh ins?

I don't think I have any. I have the same routine each morning except on Friday I weigh myself before I hop in the shower.

I don't have any. I think focusing that much on daily readings is a very poor mindset. You should be looking at general weight trends over an extended period of time. The difference between x.2 and x.4 pounds is meaningless in your grand scheme.

Make sure I washed under my nuts as I weigh every morning when I get out of the shower. OP: You are thinking way(weigh) too hard about this. If you are going through this much trouble to reduce your weight that has nothing to do with fat why are you weighing yourself at all?

I weigh on most days so no quirks the day before... I do weigh naked, before eating anything, and try to "expell".

The odd time I might re-work my weight training days so I don't do them on the thursday right before weigh in, usually if it's the end of the month and I'm doing a challenge I want to 'make goal' for or something. But most of the time it's just same as usual.

My scale weighs me at 1.0 - 1.5 pounds less if I shift my weight forward so for the longest time, I did. I counted it.

Now that I'm close to a normal BMI, I have decided to quit playing the tippytoe game and just stepped on and recorded that weight.

The number really isn't *that* important! but it is fun to make it as small as it can be!isn't it? :)

jstrlv, you're not the only one ;) Wednesdays were my weight watchers weigh in days, so I totally did the same things you mention on Tuesdays! I weigh myself every day now and look at the trends, but I do admit that I still try to get in a workout on Tuesdays ;)

    Yep, me too.

Many years ago, when I went to WW meetings, I would wear the same thing to the meeting every week. But that was more for consistency's sake, since we were weighing publicly and couldn't do it naked, LOL.

I just make sure to never eat any fast food, heavy dinners or drink too much liquids the day before weigh in.

Meh, I weigh in on a Monday and I usually have a higher calorie allowance at weekends. If my weight is trending in the right direction over time then I know I'm on the right track.

I do that sorta stuff. I make sure I don't get too much sodium, and I drink a lot of water, because it seems like being a little high on sodium can cover up and losses for the week in water weight.

Same, down to the weigh-in day/time.

I try to keep my sodium intake low the day before, and drink lots of water, as I tend to hold on to a lot of water weight... So eating a ham dinner the night before weigh-in is a big no-no for me. :-P

And to those making fun of OP for "thinking too hard about this"... I'm sure you're just so perfect that you don't have any quirks at all. Give me a break. It's not like she's starving herself the day before in order to get a false reading.

I drink extra water the day before a weigh in and try to keep my sodium down to minimize water retention screwing up my numbers.

None...I step on the scale pretty much daily, so I'd be screwed if I had to do some weird ritual the day before weigh in...I'd always be doing something weird and unnecessary.

Not sure if it's a "quirk," but I only count the weigh in on the weekends when I've shed a little of the water I sometimes retain through sitting at a desk all day. I also strip completely naked. Oh, and I sleep in, so I don't weigh in until later in the day, which actually makes the result a little lower.

Addendum: I don't think there's anything wrong with weighing in every day, as long as you're able to take it with a grain of salt. I weigh in every day (though I don't count it as the "official" weigh in of the week). AND, to make matters worse, I'll sometimes weigh in at work fully clothed with a different scale, which is another "no-no" in itself. I just like to see the trends, and how different activities and food can affect the number. It's not like I fall on the ground and weep if one scale is heavier than the other.

I have a few quirks, too, which I think we all do. I also weigh in the buff, and I even take off my Fitbit. My scale does this thing where the first weight is a bit heavier, so I only log the lower number.
