Marathon

For the past 2.5 years I have been in plateau/maintenance up and down a few kgs mode, this year I wanted something new.

So I decided to train for a full marathon used to be a half marathoner 15 years ago, with a PB of 1:19, ……..well last Sunday I ran my first full one at the ripe old age of 47, with a time of 03:51.

To say I was happy is probably an understatement and this was achieved with a sore foot and no training for the last 10 days, was going to pull out beforehand, but pride and probably stupidity didn’t allow me to.

So 4 years after being 96kgs (212lbs), I am now a marathon runner, and although only ever planned on running one, I now have the bug and can’t wait for the next one!

Congratulations! A sort of back-burner goal of mine is to one day do a sub-4 hour marathon, but I am not a serious enough runner right now to make a good attempt at it.
