if I am using my fitbit and it logs the steps I take during a jog and then I manually log it using myfitnesspal am I double dipping on the calories that I am burning therefore not being completely accurate?

If you have your fitbit set up to sync with MFP you should not add your jog into MFP. However, if you do a non step based exercise such as bicycling, you would want to add it. It will have you add a time frame for that exercise so that it takes the 'steps' logged during that timeframe into account.0
