Every time I try to be healthy, I just go back to my old ways. Everybody in my house eats junk all day, so it's tempting. But I really want to get in shape.

Motivation is an unreliable friend. Even if you find some for a moment, you will lose it at some point. No one has high motivation indefinitely and it's what you do when you have none that decides the long-term results. So you probably don't need motivation to start with. What you need is common sense, ability to claim responsibility for own life and a bunch of useful habits. Build them and they'll get you through the cloudy times.
Junk food is always going to be around, if not on the tables of your family, then on the tables of your classmates, co-workers, friends and random strangers. It's fine to have some occasionally or even regularly in modest amounts. Figure out things that you really don't want to live without and fit them into your calorie goals. Other foods will stop being appealing once you have to choose between having a small bite of them and a proper meal that fills you. Log your food and make sticking to your calorie goal a habit. Some things will take care of themselves once you do that.0 -
Let me share something my husband said to me not to long ago when I was feeling the same way. He said "there are many things in life we have absolutely no control over but we do have 100% control over what goes in our mouths" I had to let it sink in for a bit but he was right. It is up to me to make the decision if I want to eat it and how much of it I will eat. So I have learned to take full control. You have all the power
Now that does not mean that some days are not harder than others or that im not tempted by the snacks that are in the house or at a restaurant, I am. However, by telling myself over and over again that I am in control I learned to think about it before I do it.
It will take some time to learn that but in the end it will become a habit.
Another trick to help is to make a list of why you want this and then post it somewhere you have to see everyday.
Best of luck0 -
