I have such terrible sugar Cravings. I wouldn't be able to say 'no more' after my first few jellies or biscuits or slice of cake . I would train hard in order to keep up with my sugar intake but I had to put a STOP to my cravings and it's working!!

How? I publicly announced on Facebook (in order to hold myself accountable) that I was going to start a 21day Challenge of not eating any sweets or rubbish! I'm currently on day 12 and my cravings are not bothering me that much, I had the Shakes and bouts of weakness all last week but I'm felling so much stronger this week! I can't wait to complete the 21 days to kick the *kitten* of my Habit!!!!

Yay me!! :-)

Look up endurance athletes and fat adapted

    Sugar isn't bad

But if it triggers cravings it is bad for you

Maybe look at sugar as a specific fuel type.

I am low carb, and have lost over 125 lbs. There are times when I consume sugar on purpose as fuel during long intense workouts

I am fat as fuel adapted but take small amounts of sugar and electrolyte packs with me on long bike rides.

This ride was long. I used 1.5 packs of gel mixed into two water bottles.

Sugar ain't bad... It just isn't a nutrient dense fuel to base your nutrition strategy on.

Use it as needed. Keep it in the box if it triggers compulsive behavior.

    Know thyself

    The ride

Long and hot as a *kitten*

25 grams of sugar in the mix with body fat for fuel

My sister went off processed sugar and she also said she felt week and achy for a week. Then she was fine. I congratulate you on your abstinence from sugar.

Wow, that's some distance, I wouldn't be up to that level of training yet, but I'm planning to complete a half marathon in Sept. is the Fat Adapted state the same as Keto Adaption? I've heard a few things about this but not enough must study that area a little harder!! I don't think I would be 'strong willed' enough for Keto Adaption. But we will see ;-)

    Cheers!!

I don't actually know all the ins and outs of Keto.

I approached this from the standpoint of increasing my mitochondria, the powerhouse cells that burn fat as fuel.

It is a very widely document practice. Thousands of hits on Google. The NFL does it.

But anyway, I do long term exercise while fasting, and take just a few sugar carbs with me so I don't fall out, and make my muscles adapt to burning fat more efficiently. It grows the mitochondria. And as a result it is easier to use fat as fuel.

It is just a little self discipline and work. For me it works.

And it still follows the basic CICO limits so there is no magic or smoke and mirrors. It just lets you burn more body fat as fuel.

Good luck with your fitness and health goals.

    Beachbody is a scam.

They often pretend to want people to do friendly challenges when what they're really trying to do is suck people into buying their dumb shakes and then get those people to buy even more, with the promise that they can sell it to others. What ends up happening is people buy the stuff and can't sell it, so they just lose money.

They refuse to tell people the ingredients in those shakes and it has been mentioned that they may or may not cause kidney problems.

It's a pyramid scheme with a com-artist twist and they're very dodgy about just what it is there selling.

Don't get sucked in. Run away, as fast as you can.
