Thyroid issues (Hashimotos) & losing weight

I have an under active thyroid. Finally after 5 years I'm losing weight. I found that I was allergic to dairy and whey. Once I cut my carbs, stopped all dairy and whey protein I began to lose weight. I added exercise DVDs which has accelerated my weight loss! Yay.
I want to help you if you're tired of feeling tired, sick of struggling into your clothes or sick of feeling bad about yourself.

You lost weight because you went into a calorie deficit, removing carbs and dairy from your diet may have created the deficit, but they are not directly the cause of your weight. How did you determine you were allergic to dairy? Are you lactose intolerant?
Are you being treated for your hashimotos?0 -
I think the workouts helped the most. I went to a functional doctor who had me complete a series of tests through Cyrex Labratories. Lots of tubes to fill saliva. Allergic to dairy.0

Yes I'm being treated for Hashimotos. It's really been a struggle to lose weight. I've stopped at dairy before even knew I was allergic to it because I heard it caused a lot of phlegm. I thought that was a reason why my allergies are so bad. But I never lost weight I just continued gaining. I do eat some simple carbs. My functional doctor wanted me to not have any gluten because he believes those of Hashimoto's should not have any. I try to stay away from gluten but I'm not 100% compliment. Lol it's just too hard0

I have Hashimotos also, I just started this program couple days ago. I am looking forward to losing weight and feeling better. I have read that that Low carb eating is good for the thyroid and Hashimotos.0

I never thought carbs would've been the problem0

There really isn't enough research to say if gluten is a problem for hashimotos patients. I'm hashimotos, I eat plenty of gluten and carbs and feel great. In fact if I don't eat them, I feel lethargic. I've lost 40 pounds in 5.5 months without any problems. Weight loss is about getting your calories under control, not about what you're eating.
Trying to eat gluten free is ok, but if you can't eat 0 gluten, then restricting it is pointless. It's an all or nothing type thing.0 -
I just been diagnosed with thyroid Nodule. And had fine needle aspirations. The cells were odd shaped. Has anybody had this.0

I never had the needle aspiration because my nodule had not changed in size for two years.

Congrats on the weight loss achievement0 -
I have known for a while that I had an enlarged thyroid but now my doctor is testing to see if it is overactive. Hopefully, this provides some insight.0

I have Hashimotos as well as Ciliacs disease so I have been unable to eat foods that contain Gluten for the past 3 years. I lost weight before going on a Gluten free diet.0

I have Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid disease), and I lost weight more slowly than most MFPers. So be patient!
But I did it just like everybody else—by eating fewer calories than I burn. I followed the advice in the Sexypants post: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p10
