I am a 24 year old Mother and Army wife. I didn't use to struggle with losing weight. As a teenager I was very active, I was into sports, being outside in the yard, riding my bike and I even wanted to join the Marine Corps. I also had a 3 year battle with anorexia, suicide and running away. But; at the age of 17 I became pregnant with a baby boy, his name was Dallas Orion. My dream of being a Marine changed when I found out I was expecting, so I dropped out of school to care for my son. Then on January 1st, 2005 I miscarried him one week shy of 5 months along. My dream was shattered. I began having weight issues after I lost him. When I became pregnant with my daughter in February of 2006 I was 175 pounds. I am only 5' 3 1/2" tall so this was not good. I was always the skinny active person and I was confused as to why I was so heavy. After her birth in November 2006 I didn't lose too much weight after her birth. I was 208 when she was born and I got down to 190 pounds. I got on a diet while my husband was deployed from 07-09 to Iraq and I got down to 165. My lowest weight since giving birth to my daughter. Of course I strayed away and gained all the weight back. In January of 2010 I gave birth to my son. I was 230 pounds and that slapped me in the face. A friend of mine uses this site so I thought I'd try it out. So far I love what I see. I hope to make new friends along this journey we are all on. I weigh 179 pounds now and my son is 16 months old. I want to lose all together 100 pounds. Only 49 more to go!! Good luck to all and I hope we can be helpful!

Welcome to the boards, Cassandra. That is my sister's name and I've always been jealous of it. I'm very sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I have had two myself and I understand how hard it is. Unlike you, I have always been fat, but I do know that my miscarriages caused me to gain even more weight because I never wanted to go do anything and I ended up turning to food for comfort. It seems like you are on the right track now, though. Good luck with your journey and congratulations on your other two children.0

Good luck with your weight loss! The good news is that you've done it before and can do it again! It's hard when you are a military wife and have been through so much, but it sounds to me as though you have the determination and right attitude to succeed, and it looks as though you are more than certainly on the right track already! Good luck!!! Keep us posted! x0
