Hi all,

So, I'm a sauce girl. I love healthy food, but I love sauce. After drowning an otherwise balanced meal in mayonnaise and realising that 1) it's delicious and 2) it had almost the same amount of energy as the rest of my meal, I thought I'd turn to you all for advice.

Aside from lower cal, I'm aiming for lower carbs/sugars and I'd prefer to avoid artificial stuff where I can. I don't mind making things but I'd like some supermarket suggestions from Australians - things I can keep in the work fridge to add to a lunch to give it a bit more oomph.

Thank you!

For lower calorie, I'd experiment with pepper/chili based sauces, soy sauce (I make a spicy dressing for cold Asian salads of fish sauce, soy, and sriracha which is good), vinegars, and mustard-based sauces.

Fatfree greek yogurt makes a good sub for sour cream as the base for some sauces and also serves as a tasty dip for fruit and veggies on its own, and can be nice on potatoes.
