Didn't exercise and lost weight!

So I took a week off of exercising and when I weighed in I was 1.8lbs less! How is this possible? I am back exercising and have put the weight back on (overeating hasn't helped) but I literally ate quite badly the weekend before not exercising then took a week off exercise and then weighed in less. I am so confused as to why it's kinda put me off exercise.

because all you need is a calorie deficit. doesn't matter what you eat or do
calorie deficit=loss of weight

The answer is in your food diary, and/or the fact that a sub-2 pound weight fluctuation is completely normal0

Calories in versus calories out.
If you eat back exercise calories, but didn't work out for a week and therefore didn't eat back you are still at the same net calories, hence the loss.
The gain could be natural fluctuations. Since you didn't work out for a week your muscles might have retained some extra water when you started working out again.
ETA: or the lost weight was already water weight which you put on again. This is why weight naturally fluctuates, also for people in maintenance. Exercise will most likely not make you gain any more weight.0 -
All other factors aside, you may see a temporary weight loss during a period of rest as when muscles are worked, they retain water.0
