Anyone feel like reviewing my diet?

Love some constructive feedback. I FEEL like it is going well but don't know. I do know my sugar runs a little high at times -- I need to sort this a little better. Other thoughts?

Your food diary isn't set to public.. so people can't view it.0

I cut back on carbs and lowered my fat intake and I eat a bunch of small "meals" a day to keep my metabolism working properly...........0

Would wonder if perhaps buying plain oatmeal and adding other things to it would result in less sugar? It seems many days you've gone over on sugar it was from said oatmeal.
Alternately, adding fruit or nuts to plain yogurt.0 -
I was thinking that you might want to cut back on the refined sugars. To satisfy your sweet tooth use honey instead and reduce the baked goods and other sugar added foods.0

Thanks all -- I like the good ideas about reducing sugar! I will give them a go. I find that the cottage cheese with fruit no sugar added is sweet enough for me so I think I can do it!0

Agreed kick those refined sugars to the curb.
I am 2 months away from being a certified nutritionist - just so you know where these tips are coming from, I do actually know that this is credible information, rather than heresay.
Maple syrup, honey, cane sugar sucanant are all much better alternatives. But don't be mislead this doesn't mean overload on them because they are 'good for you' rather they aer healthy alternatives to be used in moderation.
Also if we are reviewing the diet, you need to make sure you are hitting at the bare minimum 1200 caloiries a day, otherwise your body will go into starvation mode and you will have a hard time shedding those lbs.
I would also look at the articifially sweetened products you are putting into your body. If you have yogurt, buy some plain yogurt and sweeten it naurally with fresh fruit, vs the fruit at the bottom or the creamy fruit chunks put into yogurts. The sugar content is much higher in those kinds than plain.
Also you need to add mor fresh produce into your diet anyways. Eating a mainly plant based diet will help with so much!
--> Elimination (we all no doubt carry around a few extra lbs of waste in our bodies that isn't being properly eliminated as a result of a lack of dietary fibre - fruits, veggies, legumes)
--> Live Enzymes (these help with uhndredes of reactions in the body from helping to break down foods so our body can use them, to keeping our organs and cells healthy)
--> Low calories but highly satiating (though it shouldn't be the reason for eating fruits and veggies, I won't kid myself this is a weigh tloss site. Eating fruits and veggies will keep your caloiries low, while filling you up with lots of satiating fibre content) (Also don't worry about exceeding your sugar levels when you are eating frutis and veggies. Think about it, how can something that comes from nature be bad for us, or concering that we are eating too much of it)
Start off small and make the changes realistic to your lifestyle.
Add some carrot sticks and cucmbers to your daily snacking. Add some hard chews like apples, pears, carrots, fennel. these make great snacks as they are slow releasing in your body which means a slow release into your blood sugar so you won't see extreme highs followed by low low drops in energy.
Try and add a salad to each meal and load it up with some fresh fruits or veggies, and some nuts and seeds.
Try making a smoothie in the mornings for breakfast (be sure to have protein, and a form of fat -avocado, coconut oil - as this will keep you fuller longer and offer your hair, nails and skin among other things in your body well moisturized). Add to your morning smoothie a handful or two of baby spinach. This adds lots of vitamin c iron and fibre to start your day, plus you can't taste the spinach, its so mild.
Good Luck!0 -
I tried to review but as someone else said you need to change your settings so people can view your diary and comment. Be glad to look it over when you change settings!:happy:0

Try eating less food at once and taking out all of the refined sugar. It's just a healthier choice to eat the sugar in fresh fruit rather than in the starbucks muffins or oatmeal! Maybe try unsweetened vanilla almond milk with plain rolled oats and some fresh fruit and cinnamon. You will only have natural sugar then!0

oatmeal used to kill my sugar in the morning. the "weight control" oatmeal by quaker oats has WAY lower sugar! maybe that will help?
i still go over my sugar but it's all from fruits n veggies now
good luck!0 -
Hi all thanks! This is really helpful. FWIW I don't actually eat a starbucks muffin, I get one at a local bakery and it has about 200 calories so I was lazy and did it that way (I need to correct that). I do eat SLIGHTLY more veggies than I list but they are such low calories I don't log them (eg carrots with hummas etc). I will try plain oatmeal and yogurt, I got some honey today and a bunch of fresh fruit too. THANKS all!!0
