what do YOU do to stay away from the scale?

I CAN'T STOP WEIGHING EVERY DAY!! now that my weight loss has slowed down a little, daily weigh in's are getting depressing.
tomorrow morning, my dad is locking my scale away in his safe until next week. he has specific instructions to ignore all of my begging and bribing and anything else i throw his way. hopefully he won't take it out early to shut me up lol
what have YOU done to keep yourself from weighing every day??

I don't own one.
I am trying this without a scale and will weigh in at my next Dr checkup.0 -
Well, technicall the best time of day to weigh is right when you get up after you've used the restroom - before you eat or drink anything. I weigh in on mondays - now, I'll tell you i've weiged here and there throughout the week, but I don't know why bc it's always in the evenings after being on my feet 10+ hrs and I know I'm retaining uber amounts of water.
So, to keep me off the scale, I eat. I wake up, make my coffee and breakfast and take my vitamins. That way I know for a fact my true weight will be off, so what's the point? What's the point in weighing yourself if the result isn't accurate???0 -
i close the bathroom door , put on heavy clothing like jeans and sweaters all the time so i know it's inaccurate if i step on it and its a waste of my time if i do0

I do what you do: hide the rotten, stinkin' thing. Out of sight, out of mind is good for me; hope it does the trick for you, too.0

Personally I need the scale to keep me going. I find if I don't weigh in everyday, morning and night then I get off track. If the number is down I cheer and if the number is up I go walk some more and really watch what I eat that day. The reason I do both am and pm is that you weigh more at night then in the morning and I want my goal weight to register at night. Do what works best for you.0

I really struggled with this too, I weigh myself properly on Wednesday but I'll always check see how I'm doing at the weekends too. I think when you've had a few times of getting on the scale and it being the same or more than before you get very disheartened and stop! It's also quite exciting to not know, maybe try and make it into a bit of a game.0

I don't, lol! I have gotten a lot better though. Now instead of weighing myself all day long (how stupid is THAT) I only weigh myself first thing in the morning, after I've been to the bathroom.0

I'm thinking about getting rid of my scale at home and only weighing myself when I go to my class at the Y once a week. Their scale is more accurate than mine anyway.0

i started putting mine in a cuppord that something sits in front of . so i have to move that item to get into the cupboard to get the scale.0

HA!! glad someone thinks the same as me lol0 -
I weigh every day too but its not accurate and its hard for me to read LOL I get weighed every wednesday at Jenny Craig....0

I weigh every day when I'm trying to lose weight. When I stop using a scale daily, I slide off the wagon.0

do the opposite, weight yourself a couple of times a day for a while. makes you more conscious of how your body weight changes throughout the day. why do you want to stay away from it? yeah its frustrating but you NEED to know.
i know someone who says "i NEVER weigh myself, it pisses me off!! i just go by how i look and how my clothes fit." the problem here is that if she goes to the mall and buys a size up that fits nice she looks fine, her clothes will fit but she will be gaining and not know it. she wont know.0 -
I'm having a tough time breaking this habit myself.. I'm a compulsive weigher too0

I used to weigh in every day and fast realised that when I didn't like the result on the scale I let in effect my eating habits for the whole day. Now I am working hard as resisting the urge to weigh in more than once a week. I'm not doing anything more than simply not weighing - its in the same place as it always is - but if I am going to loose my weight it means I have to have a the right mindset, good habits and will power - this is a good place to start. Bad food is no good for me - I therefore have to stop eating it, weighing every day is bad for me - I therefore have to stop doing it. Mind over matter lol!0

why do any of us feel the need to weigh ourselves on a daily basis , i know i did in the beginning ......... but after some very good advice from a fellow MFP , i realised i don't actually need to weigh myself daily or weekly for that matter , just knowing my clothes fit so much better is the indicator that i have lost weight , after that it's a nice surprise when i do get on the scales and see a loss0

I like your "once a wee" weigh in habit.
I'll give it a go. So far I avoid the scale like the plague.
Maybe that's not a good thing
Good luck0 -
I only plan to weigh once a week for my official weigh-in that I'll input in this site.0

I am also a recovering scale-addict! I couldn't break the habit until I hit my goal weight. Once I was down to the weight I wanted to maintain at it became all about toning up and getting fit, so the numbers on the scale didn't matter anymore. In fact they lied to me! I was losing inches off of my waist and shaping up dramatically, and gaining weight, dammit!
The scale was an invaluable tool during my weight loss. Weighing myself everyday kept me on track. But after so long it became a burden, so I donated it to Salvation Army and I have no idea how much I weigh now!0
