I am consistently coming in under my calorie goal almost every day. I would love for you to take a look at my diary and let me know what i can add/change/replace/alter in order to get my calories up without going over on everything else (sugar, sodium, fat).
Thanks!
Thanks!

you need to add two more meals to that. cut out the snack and replace it with a meal of one serving of protein, one serving of starchy carbs and a serving of fibrous carbs (veggies) add one more meal in the afternoon or evening of one serving of protein and one serving of fibrous carbs. Make sure you eat every 3 hours, have most o fyour calories in the morning and don't eat starchy carbs after 3 pm. Your dinner is way too high in calories. Dont eat three eggs for breakfast. Eat eggwhites instead, ie eggbeaters and add one whole egg to that.
What are you doing for exercise? i highly recommend that you start a weight training program. you can get tons of info on bodybuilding.com they'll set up a plan for you. ignore all their stuff about supplements etc that's fine if you're a serious bodybuilder. but the more lean muscle you build, the better your metabolism will work.
I recommend you check out the book Body By Design. It's a 3 month program that'll get you back to basic nutrition, will have you eating clean and lays out an awesome exercise program. I have followed it for ten weeks now and i've lost 30 lbs and gotten much stronger as well.
The main thing is to eat clean. no "white" food, no sugar, no processed food. eat your food basic and prepare everything yourself. Sure, it's not gourmet eating but be honest about how you got to be where you are and how much you want to achieve your goal. It's not easy, and you'll have to work hard, but you can definitely do it! Good luck!
Also teh absolute best book on fat loss I have ever read is Burn the Fat, Feed The Muscle. it's an ebook and you can get it at www.burnthefat.com. or search for it on torrent. I've read a lot of books and this one cuts through the bull and the marketing and the hype and takes it back to basics.0 -
Don't be afraid of fats. Fats are far more efficient fuel source. Do not fall into the ignorance that is "fat is bad".
Eat cheese, drink homo milk, eat walnuts, eat your egg yolks. My favourite quick heavy snack is a 1/2 cup of whipping cream and 10 blueberries, easy 450 calories. Good luck!0 -
Good fats are not bad. about 20% of your calories should be coming from fat. But whipping cream and Homo milk is just asking for trouble. I'm sorry, rknigh2 but I completely disagree with you. Healthy fats should be coming from extra virgin olive oil, fish, what's naturally in protein, avocados. Not whipping cream and Homo milk. Anything taken to an extreme is not good for you. Moderation in all. not too many carbs, not too much fat, not too much protein.
it's not just calories, it's the quality of the calories. Rhage needs to focus on losing fat, not just weight. And eating high fat will not result in fat loss. He'll just end up skinny fat, at his goal weight but still with 30% bodyfat. That's unhealthy, no matter how you look at it.0 -

Can you explain to me why avocado fat is "good" and homogenized milk fat is "bad"? Also can you explain to me how eating fat will make you "skinny fat"? I will agree that eating fat alone will not make you lose weight, that is done by reducing calories and/or increasing exercise. I'm simply arguing its much easier and efficient to eat a calorie deficit when you take carbohydrates and insulin out of the equation.0 -
we dont have to discuss the cholestoral thing. And you need a certain amount of carbs for energy. Carb depletion is all fine for body builders when they're in pre competition phase but low carb diets dont' work in teh long run. I lost a significant amount of weight on a low carb diet and simply coudln't maintain it.
"skinny fat" is that phenom you see in teh gym all the time. Guys (and women, we're just as guilty of it) working out and thinking they can eat anything they want. Sure, their body weight may be low but if you look at their bodyfat percentage it's up around 30% and their Lean Body Mass is much lower than it should be. Fit people who are successful and truly fit do not eat a diet high in saturated fats. They eat a balanced diet whose percentages run around 50% carbs, 30 to 40% protein and 10 to 20% fat. Depending on their carb tolerance they may lower the carb percentages and increase the protein and fat. I have to watch carbs so my carb percentage is closer to 40%. But cutting out carbs completely is not the way to go long term if you want to lose body fat. Studies show that in the long run a low carb, no carb, or balanced diet all end up with about the same amount of weight loss but not fat loss.
Obviously I don't want to argue, there's so many opinions about this, we're not going to solve it here. (Would be nice though, eh? for once and for all solve all the diet crazy talk? lol) But I think for his purposes rhage is better off with a balanced diet, eating 5 to 6 times a day and adding weights and cardio to his program. He doesn't have that much to lose and could easily do it within 3 to 4 months eating clean with healthy quality whole foods. A diet that he can maintain over a lifetime, while significantly reducing his bodyfat percentage and increasing his lean body mass.0
