I just quit smoking three days ago if I continue my diet and exercise will I gain weight

As long as you don't eat more than you burn, you won't gain weight.0

You probably will. Most people do, because your calories no longer have to use their energy to fight off the effects of the smoking. Also, metabolism usually changes for the worse when you quit smoking. Start a serious exercise regimen and stick to it. Anticipate that if you don't, you will gain a lot of weight. Because you will. When I quit smoking, I did everything different. Stopped eating out. Stopped drinking. Yet I still gained weight. I started losing three months later when I was freaking out and started walking/running three miles a day. So start now and keep it up.0

Yeah. You probably will. I did. Just about everyone does. Big deal. Once you have successfully quit for a while, you can deal with the weight problem. Trust me, it is much better than still being a smoker.
Plus, for most people, it is usually only about 10-20 pounds.

I stopped smoking 2 years ago and immediately started exercising. I didn't gain weight at first but as soon as my exercise slowed down due to an injury, I started packing on the pounds I gained 35 pounds. I wasn't counting calories. I am now back to my exercising and I'm counting calories as well as changing my diet and I drink lots of water. It's been 3 months and I'm down 29.3 lbs. So I would suggest if you aren't already, to start drinking as much water as you can.0

You may or may not gain weight, but you'll regain health, strength, willpower and faith in yourself. These are all tools that are going to get you fit and keep you fit if you keep at it.

I lost when I quit cigarettes have sugar in them and some people actually "lose" weight from quitting0

congratulations! most smokers gain some (not a lot, necessarily). just be really careful with calories and weighing/measuring, and if you see a gain, cut a bit more.0

Realistically it has nothing to do with smoking and everything to do with how those people cope with quitting smoking.
I quit smoking and lost weight ... Me quitting had nothing to do with my weight loss it was what I ate and how I trained that did.0 -
If you ask my husband, he'll tell he gained all his weight because he quit smoking. I can tell you that this is not true. It was an excuse to eat more rather than occupying his habit with something else. There may be scientific studies to back up the idea that smoking suppresses appetite; but in my opinion, I think that's just an excuse for people who want to blame something, other than their lack of self control, for overeating.0

I quit smoking and kept loosing, when my losses slowed I found out it was because I was pregnant. That was 4 months ish after I quit...0

I quit in April and I didn't gain or lose. Only difference is I physically feel much better. And exercising is so much easier now!0

If you replace the time spent smoking with snacking, you could gain some weight. If you replace the time spent smoking with working out, you will probably lose some. That time adds up too - 50 minutes daily for a half pack a day habit!0

I am a quitter too.. I would say I gained a little but looking at the bigger picture why care if you put on a few pounds... the health benefits of quitting are much greater than just a few pounds... and you will find running easier after a while too, actually any cardio exercise!!
Also, weight is something you can work hard to get back off.... the tar in your lungs isnt something you can change if you dont quit.

I'm day 6 and not smoking. I had started walking nightly about 3-4 miles prior to quitting and eating very healthy. Drink lots of water and high Vit. C fruits help. I also like air popped pocorn sprayed with some coconut oil spray and salt, spices and a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese. And stay busy!!!! Just realize that the craving if you wait a few minutes will pass. And I've lost another pound this week!0

The first time I quit, I didn't gain anything. I was eating less than I was burning. The second time I quit, I gained, but I was eating out of control. Whether you gain or not, will depend largely on how you approach it. I think it is entirely possible to quit without gaining. Find something to do with your hands, and have a plan to distract yourself when you would normally have one (commercials on TV, talking on the phone, long highway drives, etc). Best of luck!0

Solid decision to quit smoking. Good for you and major props! I think some ppl do gain weight but personally I didn't when I quit. I had a friend who gained some because she craved sugar (for some reason) or would eat out of boredom instead of smoke. As long as you continue to exercise and eat right I think you'll be fine. The benefits of quitting far outweigh any weight you may put on as you can always reverse that through diet/exercise. Can't say the same for cancer or heart disease though...0
