I broke my toe yesterday hitting it really hard against a chair. and i mean really hard. I dont know what i shoulld do for it, i know theres no brace or anything to heal it like a brace for a broken foot. i cant wear any closed toed shoes becuase that hurts even more. (its my pinky toe)...

what do you think i shoulld do??

keep it iced to keep the swelling down, and you can always tape it to the toe next to it for stability and it does help with the pain too. I did this about 6 months ago, I've had both my pinky toes broken more than once LOL

Get some athletic tape and tape it to the next toe. That's exactly what your doctor would do, anyway.

I broke mine last summer. I went to a podiatrist, and he gave me a boot to wear for 4-6 weeks. I really think that helped it heal more quickly. So I'd recommend seeing someone. Mine was actually broken far worse than I realized, and all I had done was hit it against my son's crib.

Ouch. Done that, and mine also included the end of the little toe splitting in like 3 directions which resulted in the whole nail coming off. I literally feel nauseous thinking about the pain you are in. I am SO sorry!

They dont do much for a broken toe, but they do have a 'shoe' they can give you to wear. Otherwise something with a hard sole is best. (I've broken 3 toes. First my pinky toe - I had to go buy all new shoes that time. Last one was my big toe - dropped a 22 pound frozen turkey on it, lucky I didn't loose that toe.)

There is really nothing more to do but tape it to the toe next to it. (I mean as long as it doesn't look too bent one way or the other). Ice it on and off. It may bruise and swell up for a bit as lots of foot/toe injuries swell a lot more than other injuries. If you don't think any of this is helping after awhile or your in pain that doesn't get better than go see a Podiatrist. If your just not sure then see the Podiatrist.

Ha ha, not a problem :) I tell the story all the time whenever anyone talks about slamming a toe into something or having a fingernail fall off!

I would definitely tape it to the toe next to it like others suggested. I broke my pinky toe several years ago and and didn't tape it so it didn't set correctly. When I'm standing, there is a space between my toe and the floor. It sticks up and there are a lot of cute lower cut shoes I can't wear because my pinky toe "escapes" out of the shoes. :frown:
