The only work around is to use recipes posted on a blog or website and import it from there, at least from the MFP website it will give you a link back for directions, doesnt work on the app though0

I really hate that I can't input information on how to make something or add notes to show alternative ingredients that I can use.0

Unfortunately it does not. I use the app Paprika which I highly recommend. You can copy paste the URL and it will keep both the ingredients and the method. There is also a section for nutritional info.0
