cheese.
I don't know that it's necessarily beneficial for your goal...but it's definitely low carb and higher in fat.0 -
I guess low carbing would be pretty good here if you need to cut weight for a weight class?

don't ditch your vegies. Just ditch the bread, pastas and carbs of that kind. You may also find it easier to keep yoru fruit intake lower. Ditch all the sweet foods.
You will lose a lot of water weight quickly but if you are doing this for a sporting event, you may want ot look into it a bit more carefully because you may not have the fast energy you have when you rely on carbs for energy. I think this is a risky strategy if you are competing.

Agreed. Use it only for weight loss. A high fat diet is used for endurance, but reduces instantaneous energy.0 -
Thanks guys didnt think of half of theses options!! Need to lose it for a kickboxing fight so im the same weight class as my opponent!!
I have a fairly balanced diet atm and am always coming under my calorie intake for my goal, but i find with my macros im going above my carbs but not reaching my fat!
Im working out and eating good but the weight's still not dropping so im kinda stuck!!!

As for the claim of low energy, there is a way to work around that until one is fat-adapted. It's called keeping your electrolytes up. It's not that hard to do.0 -
been reading about this a great deal lately. it sounds reasonable. do some research to satisfy yourself, but I think you'll find that at the very least, no processed foods, no sugar, no fruit and carbs from green veggies will be the way to go.0

Wait....you're training for a fight? Like, for real?
I'm really not sure that running a deficit in the final 8 weeks of training is a great idea, it's going to limit how hard you can work. Especially if you low-carb it.
Are you within sauna+sweatsuit of your weight limit?

I'm doing the Dukan Diet. Still get to eat carbs in the form of dairy unlike Atkins, even in the initial phase.
And please No Crappy remarks !!!! Some people on here are so freaking mean when you mention low carb diets..... But sorry I got fat when I dumped the low carb diet 1 1/2 yrs ago.... Time to go back to what really works!!0 -

Lots of people actually get fat (or worse, fatter) on low carb.
Projecting your issues isn't going to help other people - it's a public message board, relax and enjoy the ride.

I'd love it if you had a source for this statement, is it based on anything I can read? I am serious as I'm eliminating carbs as much as practical and like to read all viewpoints.

Low carb doesn't eliminate the need to eat at a deficit and many many people use low carb "paleo" as an excuse to stuff their faces with bulletproof coffee and bacon.
And then they wonder why they're getting fatter...0 -

Oh, yeah it is easy to rake in the calories! 100 calories of fat come in much smaller 'packages'. Eating the same volume of food as a carb heavy diet does not work!

Would you please clarify what you mean by "weight gain of the SAD"
Thanks,
Heather
Look at Jimmy Moore. 60 pound gain in 2 years of his keto diet. That is far beyond the weight gain of the SAD[/quote]
