So, I have a question. I drink A LOT of Crystal Lite and stuff of such. Is it good for you? Is Tea good for you? I don't drink sweet tea, I'm a diabetic. I do however use Equal. A fake sweetener. I guess you would call it. ???? I use to drink a lot of lemon water with a little bit of Equal in it. That's also my Go-To drink when we go out and eat. Is it that bad for you? And can I count my Crystal Lite and stuff as Water Consumption on MFP?

It does help you drink more water & saves calories, you are ingesting a lot of artificial sweeteners. I'm not a huge fan of them, but I do use about half a packet of Splenda each day in coffee, which seems reasonable to me. Brewed tea probably has more health benefits than the powdered kind in Crystal Lite.
Some people will say don't do "fake sugar" (especially in large amounts), others will say it's fine. I like to use Stevia if possible because at least it's not completely chemical. It just depends whether or not you believe it's safe or not, it's really up to you to research. Here's an article for example: http://www.naturalnews.com/047639_stevia_splenda_artificial_sweeteners.html It's from Natural News so obviously they don't like the artificial stuff.
If you want to avoid aspartame & the like, maybe look for some alternatives like drink mixes with Stevia which is usually natural in origin. Hope this helps!0 -
I drink plain water 95% of the time, but if I want something with flavor, I opt for Crystal Light. I think the artificial sweeteners are okay in moderation.
I personally don't log it when I drink a glass of Crystal Light 1.) Because it's only 5-10 calories. 2.) I maybe have 1 glass a week. I guess if I were drinking several glasses a day, I would log it.0 -
I love crystal light. I use the little single serving packets of the lemon iced tea-so delicious. Don't worry about the artificial sweeteners unless you specifically are having a reaction (some people get an upset stomach. I don't-yay me!).
You most definitely can count it towards your water0 -
You can count water, tea, Crystal Light, soda....as water. It all hydrates your body.
I drink 1 or 2 diet sodas everyday. Crystal Light has the same artificial sweeteners....so in my book the 2 products are comparable.
Tea is my #1 flavored beverage. I brew it for iced tea. It's great because it comes in lots of flavors. If you take an unflavored tea bag and flavored tea bag and brew them together, you get a much mellower flavor than black tea or green tea by itself. Lipton Bavarian Berry (and regular black tea) - OR Lipton Red Raspberry (and regular green tea) are good combinations. Don't steep green tea in boiling water.....too hot water makes green tea bitter.0 -
Thank you so much!!!!0
