I have found for myself that if I don't allow myself to substitute my bad habits I will eventually fall into them again. For instance night time eating.. you know you will want to do it, so think of what you can do to make it "not as bad" when you do. For me, sparkling water and popcorn and yogurts (the expensive good tasting ones) are a good substitute for me to feel like I still get my night time reward treat. But they are significantly less calories. If you know you crave chocolate for instance, find a healthy way to get chocolate that won't screw everything up. I like to melt dark chocolate and slice strawberries up and throw it into some low fat greek yogurt (i like fage) It tastes like a naughty chocolate dessert but its hight protein and has the antioxidants from the dark chocolate.
If you like soda, and you know you can't say no forever, allow yourself to get the half 8 0z cans and limit yourself to one or two a day, so you have it but have limits to it.
Does this method make sense? If I want to eat a bad fattening cheesy pasta dinner I know that I will probably need to eat lighter that day and go for a run so I can eat it guilt free. You can eat anything guilt free. It just takes thinking ahead. Whenever you are about to eat something that you know is bad think- is this worth the calories? Some times I notice that we eat something because we think it will be good, and once we start eating it we realize it's not as good as we thought it would be. Give yourself permission to stop and not finish it if thats the case. Also I have found myself eating things that were just not good tasting period. Like crappy low grade cookies. So I think, "if I'm going to eat 200 calories I am going to at least make it worth it." or "i would rather not eat this crappy cookie now because ice cream would be better later when I have enough calories saved up".
another thing to ask is "is this cookie good enough to be fat over?" usually it's not, so you can eat only half if you can't resist starting it.0 -
that's actually very motivational i'll try to stick to your tips thank you0

We all like to kid ourselves and say that a little bit here and there won't matter. Maybe it won't, but the chances are pretty good that cheating on yourself will have consequences that you don't like. Think about why you want to get in shape/get healthy/lose weight or whatever your goal is. Write them down. Yes, I mean it. Write it in words somewhere in a journal, computer, anywhere. Go back to it often to remind yourself why you're on this journey. Since we don't see much progress for a while, make smaller goals that will help you reach your main goals. Focus on being consistent in making the small goals a habit so you can keep it up. Look for small steps in your progress. It's when many small steps add up that you'll see a lot of progress. When you are tempted, be honest with yourself. Ask yourself if what you're thinking about doing is going to help you reach your goals and make your life what you want it to be.0

if you make it "all or nothing" you won't be able to control yourself if you have some. You will have all instead. So it should be "a reasonably small portion when it fits into my calorie count" not "none". That is why people fall off of their diets when they give themselves a cheat day or a cheat holiday etc. It is about learning to control and change the habits and allow yourself to have a little bit and not feel guilty about it. Why do you suppose people gain all their weight back and then some after they have been dieting and lose weight? It's because they never learned moderation. They never learned how to have cookies when their diet is "over". We are not trying to start and end a diet here, we are trying to re teach ourselves how to eat responsibly for our body goals and change our bad habits.0

Well that's another problem : it's really hard for me to control myself when i don't have the calorie limit. I just eat and eat and can't stop and sometimes even feel like I'm gonna puke from all this food so moderation is hard for me. I'ts always been like this but its stronger since i've been dieting but i eat enough calories so i don't know.0
