I have been trying to get in shape and eat better before my anniversary in October. My husband says he loves me the way I am, but I feel as if I have let myself go. I am honest with myself and know I will never have "the perfect body" but I want to be more toned. I love food but also know portion size is as important as what I eat. I still don't eat perfect but much better than I use to! I also have joined a gym, I am so focused on the number on the scale I forget about everything else. My husband keeps telling me muscle weighs more than fat and I know that but it's still hard to get out of the number mindset. Any advice or tricks that work for y'all?

Just take it one day at a time. Try taking your focus off the scale and instead explore your body (didn't mean to sound dirty, sorry). I mean, learn what foods and which combinations of foods satisfy you, push your physical boundaries, try doing something you've never done before. I got into a yoga class, and I'm not at all athletic, and, here I am, still 40 lbs overweight, but I did my first head stand today. I know it's hard to be patient, but just keep doing the right thing, strive for a reasonable deficit, and watch the changes that will undoubtedly follow.

    try measuring yourself :)

Also look for little things, clothes getting loose, getting stronger, able to move faster, getting through a workout class, etc.

There are so many other wins you can focus on. Just slowly look at those.
