To Whey or Not to Whey, that is the question

Good Day, Everyone!
I was wondering if some more experienced members could help me with this. Here's the problem: I think that my post workout protein might be "backing me up." And it might be what's causing me to be gassy. Either of these is unpleasant and unwelcome. I very much want my protein shake after my workout - I am nurturing and feeding new little muscles that I'm making, but the side effects are unpleasant. So what are my other alternatives? I have been reading, I understand there are different types, etc. But what I'd like to know is if YOU have experienced being blocked up and what you did to fix it but still have your post-workout protein shake.

What I'm taking: Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein. It is a blend of ultra filtered whey concentrate and whey isolates.

I am a 47 year old female.

Thanks so much !

I've tried many Protein shakes over the past few years and the only ones that my GI system seem to be able to tolerate are Vegan Brown Rice Protein shakes. I've been using Sunwarrior Raw Vegan Brown Rice Protein shakes for a month now and never have any GI issues anymore. Best thing to do is try different blends and brands of protein shakes and see which one feels better for you.

You could always mix some benefiber or metamucil in your shake to help with constipation. And make sure you have enough fat in your diet

With most proteins you need more water to allow them to pass through properly. Increase the water intake as well as your fiber.

Yeah, whey can make people bloated or gassy.

I used to feel bloated after consuming whey, but then I stopped using it for a few months... just had my first scoop in a while and I feel fine. I guess it just affects people differently.

If you don't want to consume whey protein, a can of tuna or something like a quest bar is very quick and convenient.

Perfect idea. The other lady said fiber, you said water and fiber..Sounds like a plan. Thanks

look for a whey that has added digestive enzymes in it (papain, bromelain)

I have to stay away from from whey protein concentrate because of gas and bloating issues. I'm fine with isolate and casein.
When I make a shake, I usually always add in a tablespoon of chocolate fibre powder too.
