Weight loss with Contrave

Hello I'm just joining MFP with the recommendation of my doctor who also started me on Contrave in conjunction with a healthy diet. Just wondering if there are any others taking Contrave

It is a brand new drug so not many are taking it.
. . . Except that it is a combination of two drugs and one of them, bupropion, is mentioned around here sometimes. Good luck to you. :)

If you do a search, I believe you will find other threads about Contrave.

I recently started Contrave. I'm in the 3rd week (2-am, 1-pm). I've lost about 10 lbs so far.

The Good: Down 10 lbs already! I don't feel hungry all the time. I dine out a lot and haven't been able to finish a meal since starting Contrave. I'm not very hungry to begin with, so I feel full before I even finish half my meal. This is huge for me, as I could previously finish my whole meal and still feel hungry. I've cut out my nighttime snacking. I just have no desire for food at night now. Nighttime snacking in front of the tv after a busy day was a downfall for me. Contrave has cut that out completely.

The Bad: Fatigue. I have been tired since starting Contrave. It hasn't stopped me from daily activities, but I definitely feel very sluggish all day.
I have also had a headache daily since starting Contrave. It's a dull headache that I can take care of with Tylenol or Advil. But having a headache every day is definitely getting old. I'm hoping this stops as my body gets used to the medicine.
Like others I've been reading about, I, too, have experienced the jitters/shaky hands while taking this. This is probably the least of the side effects for me. It doesn't happen often and it's not really bad when it does. Just wanted to mention it because I have experienced it now & then these past 3 weeks.
I do experience nausea occasionally since starting Contrave. I haven't gotten to the point of actually getting sick at all. It's just a nagging, nausea feeling.

That sounds like a lot of negatives. But, at least for me, the health benefits of losing weight far outweigh those negatives. I'll continue on this journey with Contrave and hope the side effects go away with time.
