Measurements aren't changing

I have just completed a three week bootcamp challenge and can't help but feel disappointed with the results.

I have put on 0.8 of a kilo (about 1.5 pounds I think). I was half expecting that because the more I exercise the more I weigh. I have put on 1 kilo of lean muscle which confirms that I put on muscle easily so I'm not too worried about the weight gain. It's the other stats that have annoyed me though!

My chest, waist and belly measurements have gone down a bit but my arms and legs haven't budged at all. My body fat % has only gone down a tiny bit - I know 3 weeks isn't a long time but what concerns me is it seems high - 32%. I would say I'm in pretty good shape (I'm 31) and my internal fat is only 4% (apparently 1 to 12 is healthy range) so why is my body fat % so high and why won't my measurements go down??

I eat healthily (my food diary is open) and I have been exercising for about two years now. I do a mix of cardio (try to get HIIT in when I can) and weights. With bootcamp I have also been doing tabata and body weight exercises so I really don't understand where I'm going wrong!

I'm gonna guess you didn't put on 2.2 pounds of muscle in three weeks unless it was a steroids bootcamp challenge. And not even then.

The chances of you having put on a kilo of muscle in 3 weeks are extremely low. What makes you think you've done that?

Fat comes off different parts of the body at different rates which vary person to person.

The personal trainer who did my measurements said that I put on one kilo of lean muscle mass so just going by what she told me!

I'd look for a more competent, or honest, trainer.

Are you trying to eat in a deficit?

Three weeks is not long enough.
You need to do a certain test (dex scan?) to get a true body fat %. otherwise they are guessing. so don't take it to seriously.
You cannot control where the fat comes off, sorry.
Keep doing what you are doing and you will see changes.

Average calorie consumption between 1300 - 1600 depending on how much I'm exercising that day. I don't eat my exercise calories back as such but if I'm spending an hour and a half in the gym I'm hungrier than I would be if I'm having a rest day for example.

Thanks - will look into that. They were just using a scale to measure everything so would be good to go somewhere and get it done properly. Will keep on doing what I'm doing - bit disheartened at the moment but I know even if I'm not seeing physical results it's still all good for my general health!

No, you did not gain 2 lb. of muscle in three weeks. And where you lose weight is entirely determined by genetics—you can't "spot reduce" your arms and legs. Just keep eating at a deficit and taking measurements. Take progress photos, too.

Weight loss is not linear. Some weeks you do everything right but maintain—or even gain. Others you lose a whole lot in a "whoosh." All that matters is a downward trend.
