@caisha008 - with only 14 pounds to lose, losing 2 # per week is a very aggressive goal. Try setting it for 0.5 # per week.

I've followed the goals for 2 weeks now and I haven't lost any weight :( so I wasn't sure if I was doing it right
What you're probably not doing correctly is logging your food. Do you use a digital food scale?

Yeah I'm using a scale to measure my food I think it's because I've been eating to little on average I would eat 700-800 calories a day and then exercise for an hour which equates to 440calories burnt I think

Can you open your food diary? How long have you been eating 700-800 calories a day?

Well OP how long have you been eating very little?

For about 2 weeks now ! I thought if you eat less and exercise more you would lose weight

Fyi, you are probably not burning 4-600 calories. It's probably more like 150

Yeah but you are forgetting that we need calories or we die. 2 weeks isn't too long. bump up your calories to around 1550-1700. Exercise calories are very hard to calculate correctly.

It's most likely inaccurate. I suspect your logging is inaccurate too.

If you're getting that number from the exercise bike itself, those machines tend to overestimate (hence the recommendation to eat back 50-80% of your exercise calories if you're measuring them this way).

You are misunderstanding this quote. Eat less means eat less than you normally eat. Exercise more means exercise more than you normally do. It doesn't mean to eat less calories than you burn.

as others have said 1200 already has a pretty big deficit built in. Eat at least 1200 and only use exercise to net at or near 1200... try not to go too much under 1200. I've been eating/netting at around 1200 for the past 3 weeks and have lost almost 6 lbs. Also, make sure you're getting PLENTY of water and meeting your nutritional needs as well as your caloric intake needs. You should eat back approximately half of your calories burned, not the other way around. I'm assuming your female (but you don't have a picture so I could be wrong, sorry, I don't mean to offend) and your MINIMUM net calories for the day should be 1000, and most would agree 1200 is actually a better minimum. Males minimum net calories should be somewhere above that (1500 I think, but don't quote me on that). 7-800 is WAY WAY WAY too low for just eating calories, and netting at lower than that could put you at severe risk for an eating disorder or ending up in the hospital. Anything under 1000 is considered a VLCD and is not encouraged by MFP (or any of the lovely people commenting here and trying to help you).
So if you'd like to keep doing your exercise bike and burning 440 calories a day then you need to up your intake to AT LEAST 1640 calories a day.

You burn a certain number of calories per day just being alive...even if you didn't get out of bed in a day, that number is usually something like 1,500 calories (varries based on a lot of things including weight, gender, etc. that MFP takes into consideration). So, assuming you don't lay in bed all day, let's say your magic number is 1,800 calories to MAINTAIN.

You select to lose 1 pound a week. 1 lb is about 3,500 calories...that's how many extra a week you'd need to eat to gain a pound a week and it's how many should be subtracted from your week to lose a pound a week.

1,800 calories seven days a week is 12,600 calories (again to maintain current weight)
    12,600 minus 3,500 = 9,100 (what you'd eat per week to lose 1 lb)
9,100 divided by 7 days = 1300 calories a day is what you should eat

MFP automaticly does that math for you to help you eat the number of calories you should eat to meet your weekly weight loss goal. For some people, that daily number is a lot higher, but no one is recomended to eat less than 1,200 calories a day without the supervision of a doctor.

Type it into what? MyFitnessPal? Because that overestimates too. So do most calculators of that nature...

Omg I feel really stupid now ! Sorry guys haha okay so I want to lose 2 pounds each week and it gave me a goal of 1200 cal to eat but I only eat 800 cal and I burn off 500 each day ! Is this okay ??

Close, but no. You should eat 1,200 a day minimum. MFP already did the math for you and subtracted those 500 calories for you, leaving you with a 1,200 calorie allowance daily (but before exercise, so eat at least 1/2 of those calories you earn back too!)

Ahhh, MFP is also notorious for over estimating the calories burned! I would also recommend taking what MFP says you have burned and halving it.

Base it on science, not what you feel like. If you eat 500 calories a day less than you burn, you will lose approximately one pound a week. I say approximately because one week you might actually gain a pound, another week you might drop three. It all evens out over the course of how many weeks you want to lose a pound a week. But you have to stick with the program. Starving yourself will only cause you to give up and start overeating again.

so I was wondering if I could lose weight this way - I would eat 700 calories a day and burn off 1142 calories each day through exercise I would do this every day , would this mean I will lose weight ?? I'm really confused :/

I have skimmed the thread and didn't see this question...so...

Where did you come up with 1142 calorie burn???

That is a lot of exercise.

Let me clarify - not 500 calories less than you exercise, but 500 calories less than it takes to maintain. So if you maintain on 1800 calories, then 1300 calories a day will allow you to lose approximately one pound a week.

Then you should seek professional help. 1200 calories is REALLY low. I'm on a 1200 calorie intake and a lot of people have told me that even THAT is too low... it's not for me, but that's beside the point.
You NEED at least 1200 calories. If you can't get that many you might have an eating disorder.
around 2000 is usually considered maintenance for a healthy weight. Any less than that is almost assuredly going to be a deficit, especially if you're already overweight.
Eating less that 1000 calories is extremely dangerous behavior. You're NOT going to gain weight by eating 1200 calories unless you are already so skinny that it's unhealthy and just can't see it. I would highly recommend speaking with your physician before continuing on your weight loss journey.
